Most Americans are willing to pay more at the pump for Ukraine

US president Joe Biden banned Russian oil imports on March 8 in response to Russia’s Ukraine invasion. The move will likely push gasoline prices to new highs, but most Americans are willing to pay them, according to a new Quinnipiac University national poll.

Overall, 71% of Americans supported a ban on Russian oil even if it resulted in higher gas prices, according to the survey, which was conducted from March 4 to 6. Oil was trading around $130 a barrel on Tuesday, while a regular gallon of gasoline was an average $4.17 at the pump.

Democrats were the most likely to back the ban, but the support rates were also high for independents and Republicans.

Support for Ukraine

The majority of Americans—78%—were also in favor of accepting Ukrainian refugees into the US, and 64% had a favorable view of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who has emerged as a hero figure over his handling of the conflict.

we were paying a shitload before Ukraine happened.  It's amazing to watch the narrative shift that these prices are all due to the Ukraine situation... and to see people falling for it.

Lies

None of the oil producers have a desire to pump more. Saudi told Biden to pound sand. American oil companies are laughing all the way to the bank. GOP is getting rich. They're all making a killing. Pay up!!!!!

All private companies own the oil.  They are in the business of making as much money as they can.  They don’t have your best interest in mind.  They are more concern about the thickness of your wallet.   Oil being a global commodity it doesn’t matter how much we produce domestically if the globe is using a shit load and will suck it up.

Lmfao and how exactly is a extra buck at the pump going to help Ukraine ?

Just a dumb ass deflection for idiots to follow

It won't help Ukraine at all.  There are lots of countries lined up to buy Vlad's oil.  China and Turkey to name a few.  They will buy at somewhat of a discount but when oil is $120+ does it really matter?  Not buy a few barrels of Russian oil isn't going to slow down Putin in Ukraine.  Once he has control of Ukraine and develops all the oil fields, Europe will be totally dependent on his oil and gas.

At the end of the day, the low and middle classes are getting hammered with inflated prices on oil, commodities, food, housing, and transportation.

Europe is going heavy into electric transportation which will allow them to become energy independent.  Each country over there needs to develop their own electricity sources if they want their independence on energy needs.

Where is all this electricity going to magically come from?  France is the only one with a clue.

They will have to figure it out.  They don’t have much choice on direction…. Me thinks all of Europe should take the France approach on electricity.  Your chart doesn’t have percentages but it appears France produced 90% (guessing) electrical needs with non global traded commodities .  I don’t think France has much of any fossil fuels production

we have an opportunity in North America to figure out where we don’t need to rely on a global traded commodity for our livelihood.

This is the perfect deflection for what amounts to the worst inflation in history or at least since Carter.

all that free money comes at a price....but the market has now priced in the free......and it is going to be incredibly hard to get companies and people off that tit.....fed really has it's hands tied.

This isn't a D or R problem....what we have is a financial house of cards being propped up by a government corrupt to its core.
