We've never spent money on each other for any occasion other that maybe a real need that was going to be purchased anyway.   Put that money towards other things.  Adds up bigtime over the long haul.

Kinda sorta; on a whim, usually, we will see something we want rather than need, and use the abundance of no gift holidays to justify it...

Buying the General, however, puts us pretty close to even for now...
