Hurricane Irma

Irma is a classic "Cape Verde hurricane," meaning it formed in the far eastern Atlantic, near the Cape Verde Islands (now known as the Cabo Verde Islands), before tracking all the way across the Atlantic, CNN meteorologist Brandon Miller said.
And Cape Verde storms frequently become some of the largest and most intense hurricanes. Examples include Hurricane Hugo, Hurricane Floyd, and Hurricane Ivan.

Yea bigly.  Sustained winds over 185 MPH now.  God help anyone in it's path.

Unbelievable and apparently the winds over 190 don't even measure anymore so they are sayin they need to create a category 6 .

We have lost of friends and vacation in South Florida every year. God help them.

Looks like Florida this time....last year Matthew was heading toward south Florida. It went right and skirted the the coastline and hammered north Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas.

it could potentially hit florida and move on to texas. nasty storm. i remember reading that they didn't think a storm could surpass 190-200 mph winds because there wasnt enough energy available.
