Again...tariffs should be used in very selective areas and mostly to equalize what our goods are being charged in hopes of lowering or dropping them off for both. 

I support them in the case of American cars to Europe.   They tariff ours at 10% we only tariff theirs at 2.5%.  I support their use on things coming from Mexico to get them more involved in immigration.  If it bumps the price of a car built there so fucking be it.  Fact is the world has walked all over us long enough.   Time to even the scales.

China there are obvious reasons like IP protection.   I'm sorry if your Chinese shit will cost you a bit more.  

They are also used to encourage the purchase of American goods over someone else's.  Our AG industry would be helped bigtime by this.
