how much actual chassis was changed? IDK the RXC looks good though, I dig it.  edit: 137" ?  hmmmm...

pile on boys, this isn't the brand specific safe space... and don't forget to in on one.

one thing that comes to mind... if you break a drive belt or chain the brake on the jackshaft isn't going to do shit... that's if it doesn't lock up the track and skid into an obstacle.  so there's that...

I’ve broken exactly one chain in over 30 years of riding and it wadded itself into the bottom of the case and locked up the track. Worked like an emergency brake. Now the Polaris belt drive system… well, 🤔, let’s just say it’s a NASA quality belt made out of shit a time traveler from the future  gave to Polaris.

From the ArcticInsider write-up back in Sept 2014

Race Proven Brake Caliper and Pads for improved wear and increased stopping power:

-Same Brake Caliper as 2014 XC Race Sled

-Larger bridge bolts for increased stiffness

-Low-pressure seals for less resistance when the brake lever is pulled

-Offset friction material on brake pads for more even wear under high pressure

– New brake pad friction material has increased braking power at elevated brake temperatures

so good they only used it once!

In the 2016 ACi R-XC press release :

• Brake Pads friction material has changed back to T-124 for

increased pad life

That suggests the pads were just wearing too quickly. Like I said, the stopping power is excellent. But no noise and not much feel :dunno:

Upgrade to the 6 piston kit they offered

Not sure where you'd find an X32 kit unless you happen across one out of luck right now.

I am sure some has one squirreled away. If you smoke enough meth at haydays you might be able to find one in the swap

I should throw one on my friend's swap spot at Haydays and see what kind of offers I get for it.

There was a kit you could buy through the racer's store back in the day.  It was a caliper, pads, rotor, and an adapter bracket.  It was not cheap.

There may have been some other stuff with it, but that is the basics of what I remember it being.

I rode my Catalyst today.  In less than ideal conditions, but it was still impressive.

I went 108 mph with the stock belt.

I didn't even put the ziptie on.  That kind of weight adds up.

So is there a verdict on these brakes?  Is there a pad out there that is confirmed to be noisy?

Are you asking about the brakes on a 9 year old sled or the Catalyst? :dunno:

Also would like to know. It sounds like my 2015 R-XC caliper may have different dimensions than the other R-XC sleds? If that's the case I'd imagine I'm stuck with what I got. I vaguely remember buying a different set of pads and finding they didn't fit my caliper. I'll have to dig into my spare parts.

# 3602-017 are the 'race' metallics for 2016 & up Procross & Catalyst

maybe @krom can arrange a group buy for y'all?

personally I'd want the #2602-720 drilled rotor for heat dissipation if you have the solid rotor

the RXC does... @racinfarmer can probably confirm.

Not like the Polaris though.  I think the quiet down some once you start getting some heat in them too.

The wavy rotors also pulse the brakes slightly too.

Need to find a picture of Polaris #2209871 but only $99 ?

I see they use the expensive rotor as well but it's only $455

Cat marks up Wildwood parts a lot as well.

As I've discussed before, Polaris now builds a better XC sled out of the crate then Cat does.

someone is going to have another conniption when he reads that again... :/
