Anyone else getting parts, looking at their new sled or prepping their machines yet?

Yeah that riser has got to go. A sled like that deserves more riser than that

Trying to figure out if I can just bolt the stock one I got on top of the one on it to save a little money, might not be tall enough still though. I have a lot of time to ponder the decision while I wait for an adapt replacement for the classic Team with a crack through half the sheave. Have everything else gone over at this point, driveshaft and jackshaft bearings are mint, pistons and bores look as good as they should with 200 miles on the motor, cleaned the exhaust valves threw plugs in it and went through and serviced the chaincase, checked and greased the skid. It appears the sled was never beat on but it was also definitely left outside and neglected at some point, at least the gray is super easy to clean 🙄. Even got bored enough to paint the exhaust while it’s apart.

I will give you secret Santa tip for Christmas. A welder fixes all riser issues. Just like viagra

Oh look, another ctec sled that needed an engine replaced. How many years did Cat spend designing that engine to be “reliable”?

Now you're trolling on the ctec 600 reliability?  That's a new one.

I hope you get better/happier.  Merry Christmas.

I know of one other 600ctec that’s had pistons and it was because someone had a fucked up schrader valve in the compression tester. I honestly think this motor was cold seized judging by how I was told it happened. Buddy of mine has the same sled with 8700 miles or something like that

It could have been cheaper to put a new long block into the sled then rebuild the engine the right way.

Aww. I’m sorry princess. I didn’t know you were so sensitive to EVERYTHING said negatively about Cat.

And trolling? Is that the best you got for a comeback? You think I make that many anti-Cat posts to be trolling Cat? Bitch please.

I don’t doubt it. I’ve been in the automotive repair business for over 25 years so you could say I’m familiar with that whole deal. I was just poking some fun. Clearly I got someone’s panties in a bunch though. :bc:

Yeah it’s even adjustable in case you need to go higher. Alex would even snocross certify it

these make a nice adjustable riser... just need to narrow the rungs a smidge.

I've had a new takeoff seat/gas tank for the Jag for a while, finally got that on.  Temporary cylinder head temp gauge to aid in tuning been running that for a while.  Like $26 on Amazon and it works.  Not as ideal as egt but it is information.  Changing chaincase oil on high country tonight going riding over new years.  I think I have parts around for every sled I own that still need to go on.

last night got most of the preseason stuff I wanted to do done. Chain case cleaned + new oil, rave valves cleaned, new carbides, plugs, new snow flap,  clean and inspected clutch, repacked crank bearing, bent some stuff back that got messed up by a blown belt, tried peeling off the plasti dip stupidity the previous owner did on the windshield thinking I might just get a new one we’ll see. Still got couple more things to do…progress though just in time for almost 60 today 😢.358B8306-A60E-4D0F-8AC8-6041B01E0060.thumb.jpeg.5d3a0dde13daf53d57d3770ea2149d70.jpeg1E704E35-4F18-4163-AB91-D441D2C5605D.thumb.jpeg.eb7bf06a38abd48945f489f6bdb8f02a.jpeg07BB2C32-CBF9-4D80-8855-F87333BF42F6.thumb.jpeg.17113b51e64c71f1418825aa58af7290.jpeg4654D92B-F0CF-4437-B7EC-5B3E7525CDED.thumb.jpeg.3169b1c484b8b36dec12d8792ebe19c0.jpeg

Been working on the spare sled these past few weeks, moved most of the parts over from a 98 powder special to a 2001 Mountain cat that my Father brought home in 2001, learned to ride on that 600 and kept it untill it was stolen, bought the 800 afterwards.

Three years after it was stolen my brother found it for sale on CL, met up with the guy and showed him the title so he gave it up and claimed he bought it from another guy?

So it has sat a for a few years untill i found a cheap running $400 PS to rob parts from.

Currently it has:

144" ported track from my 2001 MC 800

2004 king cat handlebars

Skid, motor, chaincase, rpm pipes from PS

Polaris primary clutch

Higher seat frame made from military cot tubing with neoprene cover

Chopped off ⅓ of airbox then sealed

And drilled running boards to aid in snow removal.

Fired it up last night in 2 pulls after priming fuel system, now to start cleaning it up and taking care of the smaller details.

Low mile 600 ctec motor ported and tuned by a local “performance shop” called them regarding it mainly to see if they had any stock cylinders they’d sell and they wanted to hear nothing about it.

Sometimes BDX has new takeoff engine stuff on their website.  But I don't know about 600 stuff.

The company you talked to sounds like you're probably not the first person that called them.

Pretty dumb to port a newer 600 anyway.   I rode a ctec 600 in 2014 and then again last weekend when I ride the one I bought over summer.  They are fast!  I was like holy crap.  Granted I've been riding alot of 440's and 340's lately.  But still!  Way more power than you need for the trail

I ended up getting ahold of someone I was told might have a set kicking around and he didn’t have any but was actually walking into Northern crankshaft when I messaged him. He asked the guys there and gave them my number, within an hour they called me and told me while they didn’t have any units for stock on the shelf that they would be getting some back from the plater soon. An hour later he called me and told me that he tracked me down a set of freshly plated cylinders at a great price and would ship them tomorrow. Absolutely incredible customer service and I don’t know if they’re making much if any money off the deal. Not like I’m a repeat big account customer they need to make happy either.

Also I have no idea if that’s anywhere near a reasonable price I have on FB but really just wanted to trade for stickers 😂. I agree with @mnstangi have no clue why someone would port a modern 600 motor but people do weird shit.

Sleds gonna be basically brand new now and as usual in my “good deal” situations I’m gonna end up buried in it lol. Track, studs, driveshaft, primary, top end and seat cover.
