Had both. Even two in the same chassis. If straight line traction/acceleration was what I was going for, I’d have the longer track. I’m happier with the 129 for what I bought the sled for.

We are talking about dual use sleds in deep off trail and trail riding. You said we were selling them short without being specific at where we were doing so. So, my post stands. Tipped up rails or not the only place an Assualt is better than a 129-137 on trail is putting power down in the straightaways. Total waste of time imo. The amount of people in Michigan that I see riding a 155 on the trails (like legitimately all day trail riding) and guys trying to play in the deep back woods shit on 144 class sleds, is astounding. I’d rather not ride before I’d ever take my Indy off trail or my SKS trail riding.

Yup. Totally agree. While up to my in laws place, a month ago, our friends/neighbors up there asked me if I wanted to go on a “guys ride” later in the afternoon that day. I agreed. I’m riding with two Assaults. One 850 with a 1.6 cobra and the other was. Boost with a 2”. Fourth sled was a Riot 146, didn’t even pay attention to the track. I had my 129 Indy that has a Rip2 on it. We end up back in these gas well areas where there’s some hills, only about 20-30” of snow. None of these yahoos could hardly pull a line and all they are doing is running up and down the hills. Even had a couple of them stuck. I didn’t have a problem and spent a lot of my time on my seat because it was so lame. They kept saying to me “show off” and “when are you going to take us UP back country riding to show us what’s up?” Yeah, um, like never? If you’re struggling in less than 3’ of snow, in the open, and you’ve been riding all your life, you need to just stick to trail riding then. Off trail riding is in fact more than just how much track or ski stance you have. These guys were logging road only guys. Which is fine if that’s what you want to do but it’s not what I drag my SKS to the UP for. I’ve had two. Even spent a bunch of time trying to make the first one into a mini RMK (SKS 146) Still not going back. They are not great on the trail and they are mainly a logging road sled off trail. Get them in the trees, gulleys, etc, and you’re fucked.

No, you just weren’t going far enough off the trail, that’s all. Lots of guys have tried to come off trail ride with us with their 137 x 1.75 sleds. They usually don’t have a very good time. Not trying to be a dick but we actually won’t even bring them anymore. You spend all day digging them out and you can’t even go where you really want to go.

3000 miles on my 2015 RMK. Original 2.4” 155 track. It’s lived it’s entire life out in the woods here in Michigan and a few trips out west. It’s missing the tip off 2-3 lugs, that’s it. The PC is a nice track but I don’t see it holding up any better than the Polaris tracks. The only Cat guy left in our group has similar mileage on his 16 M and he has just as much track damage as I do. The 155 is nice to explore areas that sleds typically shouldn’t be in, that’s for sure. The still get stuck if you try hard enough though. Now that I’ve had two sleds for both types of riding, I’d have to give up riding one of the two types before I went back to one sled. Soooo nice to not have to compromise.

They did get a refresh yesterday, from what I heard. They needed it. The first picture I posted is from the Lake Superior outlook, on Trail 8/H-58 just south of the Hurricane River Campground Friday, before they got the LES storm yesterday. We could still get into/out of Seney and Grand Marais. No good trying to get into Newberry but should be no need for you guys. Everything north of Seney has plenty of snow. We will be back up there in two weeks for our annual spring ride with the off trail sleds.

Wife’s sled has the Polaris M10 in it. Great for her but I don’t like it.

The older M was a good chassis but the PC is better, imo. Like mnstang said though, the PC chassis still leaves some to be desired. For me, it’s that it doesn’t get through the snow on its side very. The newer PC chassis (can’t remember the year they changed 16 maybe?) is better with the newer/skinnier body work and suspension but I still believe having all that spindle and a arm hanging out there hurts it. The Alphas didn’t fix that either, imo. If you have to have a Cat I would stay as new as your budget allows. Lower secondary steering post mount was an issue but there’s an update for that. I still think you’d be fine with a 141 x 2.25 but buy the 153 if you want that cushion. Just be ready to hate yourself if you have to ride a lot of trails to get where you want to play. They can overheat ridiculously easy. Even with scratchers. I’m not familiar enough with the 141” sleds to know what they had for cooling systems.

Stopped in Gaylord and rode today on the way home. Was still puking snow there when we left. It was 45, raining and mostly bare in Gaylord when we drove by headed to the UP yesterday morning. Never left the trail. Blower pow over the hood for nearly every one of the 70 miles we ripped off quick before loading up and heading the rest of the way home. Wished I had the SKS in a few spots.

UP yesterday (Grand Marais to be exact).

The major pot head that I bought my SKS from used them. The carpet on them was sticky from all the smoke film. Guess what I’m still struggling to clean off the fucking sled? Holy shit I wouldn’t want to see the rest of his garage. A lot of engine sensors, etc are going to LIN/SENT.

14x” class track with a 2” or more paddle, is fine for 90% of Michigan off trail riding. You need to have someone who really knows where the honey holes are to need a 150” class sled. Been off trail/bush/tree riding in the UP since before it was cool. I have a 155 now strictly because I’m old, fat and lazy.

Pretty much the long track match to the 800 Indy I just bought. 19 SKS 155 800. 600 miles on it. Coated in cig and weed smoke film though because obviously that’s where this guy and his wife smoked all their shit at, in the garage, sitting on this sled.

Going to pick up new to me sled #2 tomorrow. Sold the 600 Indy too. All while the winter is for shit. Oh well. There’s always next year.

People will disagree with me but there’s good money to be made in automotive too. No complaints here. 2 year associates degree and that was only because my currently employer requires it. Cost me $15k sadly. I already had all of the certifications the college wanted for my graduation capstone before I even started. I know a few guys who are already getting into EV battery repair. Damn good money in that already and it’s only going to get bigger. As far as this student loan relief bullshit, I agree that people need to pay their bills. On the other hand, this country is BLEEDING money to many more worse things than this right now and I think it’s hilarious that there are so many people in an uproar over this but just shaking their heads at the rest.

I ran the wire all day yesterday too because with Michigan weather, and my work load these past two years, I can’t seem to get enough riding in so I take everything and adjust as much as I can, without being a bother to the group I’m riding with. I was riding with the wife yesterday so I was doing a little experimenting but the riding was good too so I wanted to just keep riding. If you stop too much, the wife gets bored and will just ask to go back to the house sometimes.

Hey, I own it. Honestly, I missed out not trying one on at the Polaris dealer when I was in Munising or I would have bought one right then. 17 or 75, what the fuck ever. I’m not running the iron dog or my trap line. I typically don’t get too cold when riding, I get too hot. The hand guards are more for protection from flying shit on my trail sled. I’ve taken a small chuck of ice to the hand before, it hurts like hell. If they block some wind off my hands, added bonus. Also, I do like the look. So what.
