the only real solution (outside a cure) is IMO assisted suicide but the issue there is how are you sure of their intent.  It's why IMO people should be able to give specific medical POA's for that before any disease gets too bad.  For example I know what my parents want as we have dsicussed it but theres no real mechanism to execute their wishes.

Fuck yes...ALS was one of the first diseases I thought of reading your post.

Until that time actually comes . . .

i have no soul so it won't be an issue.  I've watched my wife have to choose to pull the plug on her dad,  i was proud she made the best decision as his quality of life was non existent and she's far more people friendly than i am.

It's not my decision to make, my dad wanted to live so live he did, thankfully he was always coherent but his quality of life was gone.

if that was his wish it was your job to honor it,  thats why the parents and I have had the conversations as they got older

Why is it a problem aren't the 2020 Democrats running on FREE Medicare for all?

Being of sound mind until the end helped.

I understand it perfectly...I don’t like you and could not care less if you really have CTE.

Bought a sled he couldn't afford to ride just to hold some standing on  a sled site where he spends 99% of his time

No need to confirm we already know lol

We tend to keep people alive much longer than perhaps we should.  Technology (paid for by others) coupled with one of the hardest choices one can make...and we end up pouring massive amounts of $$ into folks with no real living standards, or improved prospects.

Terrible disease but 13 years of that? No thanks. If I ever get like that I don’t wanna live.

It is much like boiling a frog. At first my mother was just forgetful but still doing the things she wanted but as time went on there were more bad days than good. They call Alzheimer's the long good bye which in my experience is sadly  true.
