At first my mother was just forgetful but still doing the things she wanted but as time went on there were more bad days than good. They call Alzheimer's the long good bye which in my experience is sadly it is true. One of our cottage neighbors had it. Every once in a while she would just start crowing out loud like an old bird, pretty funny actually for us. I can see the long goodbye. I get it, I just think that after a certain point it seems like it would be a miserable existence for everyone involved. Sorry for your loss. I'm worried my mother is going to have the same fate, I hope I'm wrong.

Its hard to explain your parents get older and slow down, naturally. Then one day a doctor tells you that theyre slowing down at a much faster pace than you imagined. 10 years later, my mom at 85 is smoking butts like a boss with no fucks given, which is a whole other set of concerns, considering she hadn smoked in 40 years. Then they started taking about how this Baltic Sea cruise they are taking in Sept might be there last good one which looking at how quickly they have gone downhill might be true. IMO 10 good years of retirement isn't too bad but I'd rather not see the bad part drag on for their sake i watched it with my grandparents as well as the MIL. awful knawful
Yep my dad just turned 70. Motorcycle, camp & ATV barely used. Rather sit at coffee shop, in the door of his garage or in his chair with iPad. I hope I drop fucking dead before muddling around doing fuck all.
