Or, more realistically, it’s a low paying job because of the low skill it requires to do it. These are jobs “for teenagers” because a teens “real job” is to be in school and these types of jobs serve only as a way to gain disposable income for them.  They are said to be “for teens” because it shouldn’t need to be explained that these jobs aren’t able to provide a reasonable way to provide a house, cars, etc....for a family.

I remember 25 years ago sitting shooting the shit with my dad and his buddies saying that they could get a good job right out of high school, probably union. And if you got fired you could just go down the street and get another good job. Totally not the case today.
