Previous calculations pegged an EV in the US becoming cleaner from an environmental standpoint after about 25,000 miles of driving. That is when their upfront emissions associated with battery production break even, but the mileage varies for each region. They are ignoring that tires are worse than exhaust anyways. EVs are harder on tires and effects air quality more than combustion. Canada’s entire auto industry generates 16 billion worth of economic activity per year. The taxpayer has now thrown 52 billion at the EV industry in just a couple years. Overall tax burden and government spending does not go down because of EV's, but up. We get to not only pay for the tax subsidy, but also for extra wear and tear on the roads from the extra weight and the cleanup as they rip through tires polluting the air.
