We need to find a way so that our allies in Europe don't need Russia's energy so they can sustain their economy and don't freeze this winter. Pipelines, shipping of energy across the ocean. This should have been our Marshall Plan, after the fall of the Soviet Union. Unfortunately our current, and past governments have not made this happen.
