Brexit voters' remorse as result sinks in

Recommended Posts

I wonder if they are really going to go through with it as it was not a binding referendum, there is a huge petition going around to have another vote, and German Chancellor Merkel has said there is no need to rush Britain into a quick divorce.

You have to love the areas of England that favored the exit and ar are now demanding that London still provides them with the funds they were receiving from the EU LOL

Brexit voters' remorse as result sinks in

As the markets crashed, sterling hit a 31-year low and Prime Minister David Cameron resigned, it dawned on some of those who voted for Britain to leave the EU that they may have got it wrong.

"It's a bit too soon to know what's going to happen but I have the feeling I made a mistake," 32-year-old Pam McVey told AFP as she celebrated London's Gay Pride this weekend.

As the early implications of Thursday's historic referendum became clear, there was a buzz on social media as people shared the regrets of some of the 52 percent of Britons who voted to quit the 28-nation alliance.

"I'm a bit shocked, to be honest. I didn't think that was going to happen," said Adam, a young man interviewed on the BBC in a widely shared clip.

"My vote, I didn't think it was going to matter too much because I thought we were going to remain.

"The David Cameron resignation has blown me away to be honest. I think the period of uncertainty that we're going to have for the next couple of months, that's just been magnified now. So yeah, I'm quite worried."

Few people have had the courage to admit that they were wrong, but the hashtags #regrexit and #BrexitRegret or #Bregret were trending on Twitter -- used mostly to mock those who regretted their choice.

"We're the girl who got drunk & dumped her loving, stable boyfriend because he was a bit boring and now realises she's ruined her life," tweeted Leila Molana-Allen.

- What is the EU?' -

Others had regrets that they had not voted in a referendum that will have far-reaching consequences.

"I didn't know we could vote," said Bianca Kostic-London, a 30-year-old Australian who would have been eligible because she is a citizen of the Commonwealth.

She cried when she realised. "I said it was my fault," she said, hand on her chest. "I did feel very bad and disappointed."

Research during the campaign revealed how many Britons were misinformed about the EU, particularly on immigration and economic issues -- the main focuses of the battle for votes in the run-up to the referendum.

It seemed that many did not seek to address this problem until it was too late.

Google Trends revealed that the second top search in Britain on Friday, as the results rolled in, was "What is the EU?"

For some of the regions who voted to leave, the result also prompted an urgent call for reassurance that the government in London would match any EU funds they might lose when Britain finally breaks with the bloc.

The leader of Cornwall council said he was seeking "urgent steps" to ensure the impoverished county in southwest England would be protected.

"We will be insisting that Cornwall receives investment equal to that provided by the EU programme which has averaged £60 million ($82 million, 73 million) per year over the last 10 years," said John Pollard.

Similar appeals came from Yorkshire in northern England, and from the first minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones, who had advocated a vote to "Remain" but whose countrymen and women chose to leave.

Wales and its three million population has benefited from more than £4 billion since 2000 from EU structural funds.

"Hi I'm Welsh. My community depends on EU funding and I voted out," wrote one social media user on twitter.

Others defended their decision, right or wrong. "I voted leave. if it turns out that it was the wrong decision in the future, I have the right to regret it," wrote one. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/brexit-voters-remorse-as-result-sinks-in/ar-AAhDCYe

Complete crap story from the idiot side of things....much like the stories our media feeds the liberals.

I could get into this in some pretty educated depth as my reading has been pretty extensive over the last few days about this.  But, I'm not going to...why would I waste my time.  The Dems on this site are just about as ignorant as I could have never imagined.  I feel like a whole other part of the world has been closed off to me.  I never really knew this ignorance before.....and I'm grateful...hell, I may have just sat down and cried years ago when anything went wrong and labeled myself another lib-victim.  Good grief...where would I be now I wonder?  Another sap banking on the government to keep my hopes and dreams alive while providing a nice soft nipple to suck on.  Whew....glad I wasn't a loser victim back then.  But, I was born with a decent brain and raised to be a fighter and a winner regardless of the situation.  I know most dems weren't.  Pretty much a class of losers instructed to sit and cry at the first of life's obstacles.

Now, have you "queued" up your little dick sucking friend to get over here and post his trash?  Look down....he may be busy.  Not saying you like it....I'm just saying he's there.  Be careful.

Nope.  Educate yourself.  If you can.  I know it's tough for a lot of people to read and think independently, but we all have to man up and try.  Well, some of us do anyway.  BTW, did you shake your little sucker off yet...or his he still down there like a little Dyson gobbler trying to suck it all in?  Watch out...it may end poorly for you.

As of Sunday afternoon, around 41,118 signatories have come from Vatican City, 11,717 from the United States, and curiously, 24,855 from North Korea.

At least 19,000 signatures have come from France, and 2,735 from British Antarctic Territory, which has a population of just 250 people.

And even UK-based signatories are raising questions, with the petition attracting a curiously high number of signatures from constituencies with small populations.

Turnout in the 2015 General Election was 36,185 in the Cities of London and Westminster constituency. Yet over 40,000 are claimed to have signed the Remain petition from that constituency in the past few days. That would mean that more than every single person that voted in 2015 has signed the petition, including all voters from the UK Independence Party and the Conservative Party, the former of which is overwhelmingly Eurosceptic, and the latter of which is split in half over the issue.

Why are liberals freaking out so bad over this? Markets always tumble in uncertainty. They will bounce back like they always do.

It's their way of trying to punish the Brits for undermining what is going on here on the Democratic side (to an extent).  And yes, this volatility will rebound and in the end will only affect certain companies in America.  But this is nothing  compared to what our own trade system policies have done to decimate our own companies. Not even remotely close.

Comical.  I heard one of the "lib-news" reporting that they had 1.5 million signatures stating that they "made a mistake" and wanted to revote to stay.  HOLY LYING SHIT!  It's funny how these little snippets hit the airwaves and media for just a blip of a second.  Just long enough to invigorate the liberal masses and start the rumors and lies.  God damn...been trying to pull up some shit that the "indian Princess" spouted out the other day and I couldn't find it anywhere!  Fuck....I google her and her nothing but Trump!  But alas...I got it.  There are still real news operations out there....just gotta hunt for them.:wall:

Why do you let SnowRider get under your skin?

As far as your extensive knowledge on Brexit I can't see how providing some links to prove your view would be any skin off your ass so please do share.

He does not.  He's just an idiot I've never seen before...and one I'll enjoy meeting.  People like him deserve to be punished.  And I'm that fucking Huckleberry.

You don't seem like a complete idiot to me.  Do you really want me to post links?  Just search around.  Look under the UK sites.  It's all there...TONS OF IT!  It was a good move for them as a nation.  Similar to here in ways, a lot of those EU nations where suckling the life out of GB.  A lot more detriment than benefits.  Of course, that can be nothing but opinion depends on the population you ask.  But numbers do not lie. And when they start to head south with no redemption in sight, well...decisions have to be made.  Will we make ours, I think we will regardless of who is elected.  You and I both know they are nothing but figure heads in this whole game anyway.  What matters is whose ever head is there, that they let someone pick the right team.  Because, those are the players that will decide where we go from here.  I have faith it'll be "ok" as Americans are known for their "git" and resilience. However, I am looking around and starting to wonder if we possess the "eye of the tiger" anymore. Look at Snowrider for example.  A loser.  Nothing good coming from him and those like him.  And it shutters me to think somebody may be listening to him...OFDA.

There is nothing more important to a self loathing liberal than to point to another country and tell you how better they are doing it then the U S.

They hate boarders and nationalism.

Of course I do it's the reason I asked. I'm reading about a lot of regret and that is coming from UK sources, I'm thinking some of these folks that voted leave as a protest and then saw there money get devalued and there portfolio get the shit kicked out of it are like "what fuck the did I do?

Yes they will, but perhaps they should have used 60% as an exit.

Pretty amazing how the political pundits were spinning Brexit on the Sunday morning shows, like it was a freak accident.

Britains were sick and tired of the EU controlling them.  In the polling, France is actually less in favor of the EU than the UK was.  Many are predicting France is next.  With the UK and France out, the EU will crumble.

Collective governments and currencies will never work.  The people have spoken, time for the politicians to listen.
