Platinum Contributing Member Highmark Posted December 30, 2021 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted December 30, 2021 (edited) I think the CDC and the White House have a dartboard with different messages and whichever one hits they go with. We've fired thousands and thousands of people for not getting a vaccine only now to tell people to go to work when they could be infectious and wear a mask that they also admit doesn't stop shit. What a fucking shit show. This will likely influence the mandate case at the SC. How can you force someone to get something that doesn't work at stopping getting or spreading a disease? CDC Updates and Shortens Recommended Isolation and Quarantine Period for General Population Media Statement For Immediate Release: Monday, December 27, 2021 Contact: Media Relations (404) 639-3286 Given what we currently know about COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, CDC is shortening the recommended time for isolation for the public. People with COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days and if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), follow that by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter. The change is motivated by science demonstrating that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs early in the course of illness, generally in the 1-2 days prior to onset of symptoms and the 2-3 days after. Additionally, CDC is updating the recommended quarantine period for anyone in the general public who is exposed to COVID-19. For people who are unvaccinated or are more than six months out from their second mRNA dose (or more than 2 months after the J&J vaccine) and not yet boosted, CDC now recommends quarantine for 5 days followed by strict mask use for an additional 5 days. Alternatively, if a 5-day quarantine is not feasible, it is imperative that an exposed person wear a well-fitting mask at all times when around others for 10 days after exposure. Individuals who have received their booster shot do not need to quarantine following an exposure, but should wear a mask for 10 days after the exposure. For all those exposed, best practice would also include a test for SARS-CoV-2 at day 5 after exposure. If symptoms occur, individuals should immediately quarantine until a negative test confirms symptoms are not attributable to COVID-19. Isolation relates to behavior after a confirmed infection. Isolation for 5 days followed by wearing a well-fitting mask will minimize the risk of spreading the virus to others. Quarantine refers to the time following exposure to the virus or close contact with someone known to have COVID-19. Both updates come as the Omicron variant continues to spread throughout the U.S. and reflects the current science on when and for how long a person is maximally infectious. These recommendations do not supersede state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, nor do they apply to healthcare workers for whom CDC has updated guidance. https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s1227-isolation-quarantine-guidance.html

Rod
The government doesn’t give a fuck about you. They don’t give a fuck about a few people dying. Especially ones with high legacy costs. policy is dictated by the pursuit of lining their own pockets and doing whatever will get them re elected. That’s it. It’s all a farce, it’s all theatre.

Mag6240
One of my buddies girl friends started having migraine's and a loss of sight in one eye, so they made the obvious decision to get checked out. BUT, first they had to do Covid test and she tested positive. So that's a positive Covid case, regardless of no symptoms for Covid. She's about 60, and was eventually diagnosed with Glaucoma, after 2+ days of chasing down someone that would look at her for something besides Covid. irv
"Data not available yet" Gee, I wonder what the problem is? Could it be that the number in the fully vaxxed has now reached 10,000 and the numbers in the unvaccinated is about a 10th of that? Oh, and would you look at that. The number of the fully vaxxed in the hospital is 399 compared to 182 in the unvaccinated. Wasn't there some on here that said the vaccinations prevent hospitalizations? And, for bambihands, the number of the fully vaxxed in the ICU is quickly closing the gap on the unvaccinated just like you were told it would. And for the record, despite a 90%+ vaccination rate for this Province, we are at the highest level ever for covid cases.
