This maybe a stupid question but I’m curious why not go over there slap in a 1 foot section of copper with some shark bites and pay a normal price to have it done right when plumber is free. Years ago a plumber just got by, but with the lack of plumbers, because not too many young guys want to get in that profession, they can charge what they want. I think if people have time and it's not an emergency, try to find some guy that is not out to make a killing. Small outfit, with just one or two helpers. If it's a big outfit they will charge more.
