I very much agree and appreciate your sentiment, but Textron Inc. is not 'Arctic Cat' my friend.  I will always root for the brand first, but they've left a rather sour taste.

What specifically had changed that is Textron?  Who gives a fuck, cat is cat.  Textron is a mother company they aren't designing anything and actually alot of cool things had come out SINCE Textron, like the alpha.  Everyone on the internet likes to make Textron the boogeyman.  Cat has only been going in the right direction since then, not that I think it's related.  But I guess we have to have our internet talking points right?  Right up there with new chassis and lightweight and all the hot talking points from the experts.

We won't talk about the cat being the lightest at the shit show and it being the best handling sled.  We need a new chassis damnit (disclaimer--does not actually need to be new just some new plastics and call it a new name to make us feel better yes Cat totally fucked up in 18 by not giving the new plastics a new name SO ITS NOT NEW)

Coulda called it something like the “Axys” I think another company did that when they put new plastics on an old chassis.

Cat is just a brand name as long as Textron owns it.  It's Textron that decides where to spend money or not.  It's Textron that has been slashing and burning since they bought the place within the race department, with engineers, with dealers, with R&D budgets.  Recent product launches like the Alpha or even the Blast don't count because they were in development long before Textron took over.

This is why everyone focuses in on Textron.  What most are waiting to see is what will they (Textron) will do next with the brand.

Yep.  When they first came in it was “all good” and they were gonna start dumping money into Cat...well, that didn’t happen.  They went the other direction.  But, now, it appears they decided to just get lean in one year and bite the bullet.  At least that’s what we all hope but, we’ll see.  They seem to be back into racing and making race teams happy from what I hear so, that’s a good thing.

Us “Mad Catters” are hopeful for sure.  But, if they shit the bed, it is what it is.  We’ll all (sadly) have to pick one of the other two brands that are left in this sport.

I've never understood picking a brand.  I pick a sled.  Cat, Doo, Poo, Yamaha I don't care.  So some of us non madcatters are hopeful as well.  Would love to have something that works for me come out of TRF again.

Well, I get that “brand” comment too.  Usually, it’s the sled (other vehicle) that is picked first for it’s attributes then, it’s usually that same brand that produces that same vehicle I like to ride/drive.

You're not really a sled head if you don't enjoy the shit slinging that goes along with it.  Our group started out as all madcatter's and has evolved over the decades right along with the sport.  It would suck if our group consisted of just one brand but it's getting really close with just one holdout.

If you really are a sled head you want more choices and not less and it will be good for the sport if Textron infuses more cash into R&D.

I'm not really brand loyal with much of anything else.  I think it's because I was into cats when I was a kid.

I like it, it adds some emotion to the hobby.  If I raced I wouldn't be brand loyal.  My brother and I constantly smear Polaris and skidoo.  It's fun.  My buddies with Polaris sleds all get the treatment but they know it's all in fun.  I think.

I don't have doo buddies because I'm not friends with fags.

Bold - I can't wait to share that with two of my co-workers, when we get up north in February!! 🤣

As far as the brand loyal thing, I would have laid down a pretty hefty wager back in the day if you would have bet me I'd be riding Polaris over Cat.  I mean, I was so anti-anything that wasn't Cat it was obnoxious.  But I tell ya what ... those 2007-2010 years of that fuggin' Barney just couldn't keep me there.  And when I switched to a Polaris, I realized my previous Cat dealer was actually kind of a shit bag.  Unless my current dealer goes under, I don't see myself even entertaining a Cat again .... well, unless the dealer somehow picks up Cat as well.

The people that made the brand you love were politely escorted out the door by Textron.  Do you honestly believe Textron bought Arctic Cat due to their passion for the brand?  Alpha and B-Last were in the works long before the takeover.  What I see is less people interested in buying new Arctic Cat snowmobiles because they perceive the 2021 is the same sled as a 2012 and the other brands product lineup is offering bigger engines and lighter advertised dry weights.  What I see is Polaris and Doo is offering their consumers multiple choices rather than 'this is it folks, take it or leave it' marketing.  What I see is Textron milking the Arctic Cat name for every penny it's worth, investing the minimal amount necessary to sell enough product to show a + sign on the balance sheet and nothing more.  I would love to be proven wrong, and to eat my own words and for the record I would love to buy something new from Cat - but short of the RXC - there's just nothing there for me bud.

Cat doesn't need a completely new chassis, and I'd repost my previous comments from HCS about this but these conversations are exhausting and Fuck HCS Joe!

I'm going to singlehandedly bring back the Bolens brand if Cat shits the bed.  "Hello Suzuki, I need some engines..."

Midget fags you mean.

I believe the current political language labels them a little faggots... but I may be incorrect.
