If they failed they would impact greatly and / or cause massive job losses and / or cause the businesses to go under for the companies that manufacture all the parts that go into the cars - axles windshields body panels - everything the companies that supply the raw materials to those parts manufacturers the transport companies that deliver the raw materials to the parts manufacturers and then the parts to the assembly plants which are just in time deliveries so very frequent the transport companies that deliver the cars to the dealers the dealerships themselves and so many more. To constantly say a cost is "small" yet these companies still move the jobs to save $$$ doesn't really seem to coincide with each other. So if the cost is small, why move? Exactly. The cost of moving and setting up a net new operation could be in the 100's of $M's or even into the $B's. They don't spend that much just to save a LITTLE BIT. The ROI wouldn't be there. The savings they were looking at by moving would have been significant year over year.

Mainecat
A US company with wages at $1,500,000.00 would see that drop to $93,000.00. If US businesses paid zero taxes and zero healthcare they still cannot compete with 40 dollar a week wages.

Lets see, 1,500,000.00 vs 93,000.00 in wages with 10,000,000.00 in output from said operations. What is the efficiency of the two operations? You can kiss the low skilled high labour jobs away and try and focus on the high skilled ones.

Nothing missed. The impact to the bottom line would have definitely been significant. Business does not survive by spending $B's in relocation costs, setting up new facilities, establishing new supply chain logistics, hiring and training new staff, severance packages to old staff and so much more just to save a couple of $M. It doesn't fly economically. In todays world unless you are looking at a 2 or 3 year ROI it just doesn't happen. A business won't wait long to recover the money they spend anymore. Cold War
At the very least we will have that transparency like Obama promised. The media is crawling up his ass with a microscope over this deal. the media is going to dissect every shit he makes. just heard a report where the guy said he was going to hold off praise until he got all the facts. This isn't some terrorist act where you can run off half cocked, and start throwing all kinds of bullshit out there. ICEMAN!
Honestly, if this is the best Trump can do with direct intervention, America is in trouble. I'd like to see what his blanket plans are for companies across the board, because he can't spend the next 4 years running from company to company begging them to stay in the US. ArcticCrusher
I thought he was lowering corp rates. Does that not sound like a master plan to stimulate the economy? American can then do their part in boycotting companies that leave. Edited December 1, 2016 by ArcticCrusher
