Now I have CCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional Short description here: Quote Cisco CCNP Routing and Switching certification validates the ability to plan, implement, verify, and troubleshoot local- and wide-area enterprise networks. CCNP certified professionals can also work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice, wireless, and video solutions. Thinking about going for CCIE - Cisco Certified Internetworking Expert which is the top of the ladder. Most spend about 1,000 hours studying for it and you have to pass a Written exam and then an 8 hour Lab Exam which is only offered in San Jose and Raleigh. The lab exam is $1500 per attempt. Most don't pass on the first try. In fact, it's pretty common to take it three times before a pass. There's only about 10,000 active CCIE in the world. But if you have a good portfolio of projects and accomplishments(which I do) and then get a CCIE, you'll have lots of people wanting to hire you. I actually had a recruiter contact me from Microsoft's Azure group just earlier today after posting my new cert to LinkedIn. I will have to contact him to see what the details are. I like where I am but there's no question that I am making alot less money than I could be making. We used to do more of it but now my bosses have realized it makes more sense to hire it out. Our Network Engineering team is small so if one of us is spending time doing cabling it's hard to keep up with the other stuff. Some new personnel and procedures have really made a difference though. We have gotten so much done the last 18 months........and to float my own boat a little bit, I've done alot of tuning and tweaking to our Core equipment which was causing us some issues before I was given the reigns of it. I spent probably 15 hours this week just brainstorming with my boss about different things we want to get done. That never happened in the past. We used to be totally reactive and now we're in a place where we can be proactive. 15 minutes ago, ckf said: Sometimes that is better than living in an area that you don't like. Work and the golf course are so close to my house in my small town that I can leave work, go home and change clothes and be on the 1st tee in a matter of 15 minutes. That's not going to happen in a city obviously.

Neal Did you buy the new 100-105 and 200-105 books? http://www.ciscopress.com/store/ccna-routing-and-switching-200-125-official-cert-guide-9781587205811 I would highly suggest taking it in two parts, ICND1/CCENT first, then do the ICND2/CCNA exam. There's no reason to do the combined exam. Let me know when you get closer and I can give some tips. 13 minutes ago, dz246 said:
