Then I guess Ill just walk back to the truck I'm imagining some citiot running out of juice in the middle of nowhere... then dragging a generator onto private property to charge it. Maybe that's what the extra room on the tunnel is for.. a generator. Looks like Canerder has some sort of charging strategy for them and I'd imagine once BRP gets more on board it will get better. As convenient as just putting gas in and going on with your day... Nope. Interesting to see Elka shocks on them, that's a win. Gold Member 800renegaderider Posted November 12, 2023 Gold Member Share Posted November 12, 2023 I see them being good for maybe a rental fleet or maybe a ice fisher type guy that just stays around town or on a lake but he probably ain’t spending 20k to do that. We do a couple 400+ mile days every year I wouldn’t even consider one.

krom
They have a new left hand control, prior sleds used AC switch gear (still looks like the ac kill switch)

Not greg b
I read they use the same plug as a Tesla. Turns out there are a bunch of Tesla chargers across the street from the trail where I ride and no one uses them. 100 mile range would get me to a couple pit stops, back to the charger for a bit, and charge the rest at my house. If it conks out on the trail I could walk home to the gas sled, but that might blow a belt towing a tank. Not greg b
I can afford whatever I want. You are an old boomer that won’t give up the past and bring up shitty government decisions. You are supporting it big time for being a huge arctic cat fan. Textron has been in the ev business for decades and would not be in business if it wasn’t for them leaching off the government’s tit. An ev snowmobile will work just fine for it’s intended market and will haul ass. Just like the Tesla x. it owns everything on the street and isn’t very expensive compared to building a sub 10 second 1/4 mile car.

Not ready, and probably never will be for prime time. Tesla makes about the worst quality cars since Yugo. I could care less about zero to? In the real word, who the fuck cares? EVs live only because of Government subsidies BTW. Take that away and Elon is still just a little prick, with no money.

Not greg b
Batteries are bad. These are my guns. They are both low end. Every dealer says fuck air get an electric. So electric works on cell phones, tools, fork lifts but not something that drives outside of a building? You are fucking brain dead 1
Not greg b
I also had an electric impact that worked better than air about 30 years ago. Electric doesn’t work you retard

But once you get in to actually fast vehicles they lack. I don't think a sub 7 1/4 mile eletric exists. I wonder how it would translate to a sled? I've been reading up on it a fair ammount lately and the dyno curv does make big power but peaks early and nose dives as rpm increases.. not alot of stuff on making big power, people seem to be hush hush. But I heard on one podcast even if they can slam more juice to the motor the cases will explode with higher power levels at high rpm. Even an S on ludicrous only made less than 600hp to the tire on the mustang dyno I seen And that's why a demon is faster. I digress, I'd like to see the drivetrain on the sled tho. Not greg b
So I did some research to educate myself. With a 100 mile range you can ride the whole eastern up. In fact there is a charger in grand marias Michigan. You can charge a sled faster than it would take you to get gas there. Every state park, casino, anything along the trail has a charger for an ev. I am actually shocked by this. If you road 60 miles and plugged it when you got lunch you have a 200 mile range.

Watch the boosted bois videos. he has the fastest Tesla in the world and it is a gutted POs. They are really 1/8 mile cars. After the 1/8 they struggle. It’s really interesting what he found as he has faster cars that are drag cars in the 1/4 mile. For snowmobiles and how short we need them to run an ev is wicked
Not greg b
Will I ever own a ev anything ever no. I am interested in the technology/performance. Like Jim that says they are shit and don’t work fuck off. I already know they work and they have a place. I would really like to ride one to get the real world experience. My friend has one in stock and an electric dirt bike and says they rip. He has built more arctic cat mod sleds known to man and still can’t get off the 90s sleds as he keeps building them
Deephaven
A wee bit of battery tech and it's a game changer for the viability of an eSled. Just doubling the charge and having the charge time makes them super viable. Not too many people ride more than 300 a day without a 20min lunch stop. Or 4 5 min smoke breaks. Weight of course is the other hurdle. No idea how much of a pig that machine is, but if they can get that down as well along with range there is almost no reason not to. The battery issue we are only a couple years away from, the weight may be a bit. Edited November 15, 2023 by Deephaven
Crnr2Crnr
Home charging Each Taiga vehicle includes a Level 1 charging connector, capable of plugging into standard wall 110V outlets. To maximize the 6.6kW charging rate, we recommend installing a Level 2 charging solution. Pro tip: You can share a universal Level 2 charging solution with other electric vehicles, such as a car or truck. Level 1 charging (residential) ~14 hrs Level 2 charging (residential & commercial) ~3.5 hrs Level 3 charging ~40 mins https://www.taigamotors.com/en/snowmobiles/ which type of chargers are available along a route would make a significant difference in your charging times. assuming the times listed are to fully charge from a near dead battery. @Cwhite138 I can't find the picture atm but it's basically the electric motor turning a belt drive to the drive shaft (no jackshaft or clutches if my memory is correct). much like EVs for the road I doubt we'll see mass adaptation anytime soon. BRP not long ago seemed fully committed... but so did GM and Ford until recently. hate to say it, but a 4S turbo is probably the most eco-friendly and practical option today... but that weight. 🤮
