If all 4,000 miles of California’s canals were covered with solar panels, that could produce 13 gigawatts of renewable power. A gigawatt is enough to power 750,000 homes, so that would be enough power for 9.75 million households. For perspective, as of July 2021, there were 13.1 million households in California.

There gonna need all this and more for all the EV’s.

Or farm fields and habitat destroyed!!!!

:lmao:

They should stop allowing farms in CA that require daily irrigation.  So stupid when we have much better land for the same.  Stop the subsidies as well that encourage it.

Cali is the largest agricultural producing state in the US…. You want to starve poor Americans out or something and jack up food prices immensely?

They should cut more of the rain forest down and problem solved.

Southern California is really the nations sweet spot for solar. Another good option is what Elon Musk suggested. Massive solar farms in the desert coupled with power storage facilities.

Huge solar farm south of Henderson NV.

You see the Solar array going up on Giga Texas?  Lots of free power for that factory.

They get the equipment for free?  Where do these volunteers come from to do these installations?

The ROI of n solar is just not that great and it has a limited lifespan. California should just burn all of their trees for energy then they won't have to worry about wildfires and have renewable energy source!

Excellent idea! Just release all those climate alarmists that were charged with arson, in their fight for climate change, during their last big fires and kill 2 birds with one stone. You know those woods/forests, in the name of "global warming", will be cut down anyways for solar and wind farms, so why hesitate.
