Platinum Contributing Member steve from amherst Posted August 27, 2022 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted August 27, 2022 why dont they just install turbines along the canals and let the water that is already there do the work

X2700
All for it just make sure no state and federal money go into project. if it’s so good should pay for itself shortly and those that invest in it should see profits from it.

A gigawatt is enough to power 750,000 homes, so that would be enough power for 9.75 million households. For perspective, as of July 2021, there were 13.1 million households in California. https://electrek.co/2022/08/26/in-a-us-first-california-will-pilot-solar-panel-canopies-over-canals/ There gonna need all this and more for all the EV’s. You want to starve poor Americans out or something and jack up food prices immensely? Edited August 28, 2022 by BOHICA

spin_dry
Southern California is really the nations sweet spot for solar. Another good option is what Elon Musk suggested. Massive solar farms in the desert coupled with power storage facilities.

Lots of free power for that factory.

Anler
The ROI of n solar is just not that great and it has a limited lifespan. California should just burn all of their trees for energy then they won't have to worry about wildfires and have renewable energy source! Just release all those climate alarmists that were charged with arson, in their fight for climate change, during their last big fires and kill 2 birds with one stone. You know those woods/forests, in the name of "global warming", will be cut down anyways for solar and wind farms, so why hesitate. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/former-california-professor-indicted-arson-charges-4-wildfires-rcna6099
