spin_dry
Last week my valentine one died on a road trip to Minnesota. I’m torn on getting another detector. The old unit had so many false alerts that it was often easily ignored. I still used it along with Waze for road tripping. The new detectors are supposed to be better at anti falsing. Anyone have experience with the new stuff? Edited June 24, 2020 by spin_dry

Anyone have experience with the new stuff? I have used them since the 1960's (Raditron) and up-grade every few years, I have never owned a real expensive one like yours and I rarely go over the speed limit, also have never had a speeding ticket, all that being said I have them for piece of mind and to pay attention where Radar and Laser might be.. Some new vehicles have front and side sensors which can set off Detectors so it's possible you will get false alerts, and I get false alerts on some roads here with nothing around but forest. Doorider
I don't get many false alerts with my V1. I love mine, great range and the arrows are great. Don't you have a lifetime warranty?
Platinum Contributing Member Highmark Posted June 24, 2020 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted June 24, 2020 I try to limit my speed to 7 over or with the flow of traffic. Pass cops all the time that are radaring. Careful out west in the 75 zones. Some area's there they don't allow much over. Got pulled over in Ne doing 7 over and that's what the HP told me. Zeusand
I have a Escort 9500ix, works awesome. It has GPS and eliminates most false alarms. For local and city driving around here it's fine but on the highway they use laser, I have the Blinder hp-905. If they're shooting laser and you only have a radar detector you are getting a ticket. Radar detectors will warn you that you're getting hit by laser but at that point it's too late the cops already have your speed.

I need to find the control box to update because the false positives from all the other cars these days is a bit much.
Doorider
In Indiana, I never see any cops using laser. It's ka band 95% of the time and most are lazy and leave it on all the time.

Thanks for that tip.

Anler
Waze and even google maps shows speed traps. I speed everywhere. Try to stay under 20mph over on the highway and 10mph over in town. Seems to be the sweet spot.

Anyone have experience with the new stuff? the new Valentine is still affected by nissan and infinity and Buick and caddy and some Honda the new escort is plaged with issues also and deff not worth buying at this point. I would get a uniden that is also getting hits with Nissan and some Honda but only the newest models or wait to see if the escort gets the bugs worked out . even the last escort max360 like less than a yr is getting hits from Nissan and Honda. and when I had it in a buds truck with a blow and go the lazer would go off every time the blow and go called for him to blow . also I don't like all the fucking around with updates and fucking around with phone to get the live updates . i really miss just slapping it up and going Edited July 1, 2020 by Ez ryder
