Anler
So flame away! The president is rarely in a building, save for the White House, that doesn’t have his name on it. And that is costing the American taxpayer more than $100 million, according to HuffPost. Trump’s recent visit to his golf course in Doonbeg, Ireland, contributed $3.6 million to that total. The expenses for Trump’s trip included $1,023,940 for car and limo rentals, $10,866 to install temporary phone lines and an astounding $16,325 for the Secret Service to rent golf carts to follow the president while he played the links. And according to HuffPost, the jaunt to Ireland cost the State Department $1.5 million in contracts for the trip.

The real issue here IMO is the Pubs whined like little bitches when Obie went to the vineyardand played golf. I have no issue TBH with presidents living a relatively normal life whether that includes trips to their house in Texas like Bush did, trips to the vineyard like Obie did or trips to mar a a lago like Trump does. But IMO there should be an audit to ensure that in trumps case if they are going to resorts he owns that the cost is reasonable. Setting up a secret service office in Mar a lago is not a big deal to me, it was going to happen anyways given the post presidency protection that gets provided, Bush 1.0's house in kennebunk had a couple buildings built just for the SS

The cost to protect presidents has skyrocketed due to partisan divide and identity politics. It's not to protect the President so much as it is to protect this country from fracturing and going full social breakdown. The cost skyrocketed under Obama and he is now the most expensive ex president to protect. Trump will top all of this as his successor will also. Cheaper just to assassinate and start over. Well, assuming you don't put a lot of value on human life that is.

I don’t disagree and the “Office” should command respect from all no matter who the elected leader is. Hold on, the 80’s is calling and they want their ideology back.
