racer254
If tariffs bring in 50 billion and trump gives 12 billion to farmers, he still has an extra 38 billion for other programs. Just sayin.

Platinum Contributing Member Highmark Posted July 25, 2018 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted July 25, 2018 From 1789 to 1914 tariffs were the govts main source of revenue. Tariffs have historically served a key role in the nation's foreign trade policy. They were the greatest (approaching 95% at times) source of federal revenue until the Federal income tax began after 1913. For well over a century the federal government was largely financed by tariffs averaging about 20% on foreign imports. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tariffs_in_United_States_history

Yeah, when you cut taxes while still carrying massive debt, it's a handout, a theft from the future, and something a 'fiscally responsible' party shouldn't be doing. 10 minutes ago, Zambroski said: Look, honey....please stick to the “tax cuts” thread.
