Its a matter of using the correct tool for the correct job. Shotguns O/U is nice for clay sports 12 gauge for waterfowl 28 gauge is a nice pheasant gun 30/30 is a great tight woods deer rifle 25-06 or 270 is good for field hunting or somewhere where the woods are not so tight. 22 and 9mm handguns for target as they use affordable ammo. 357 sig makes a nice winter carry 380 for a summer carry at 15 for varmints and target.
