Teens will turn the tables by voting gun control.

How often are we hearing that these days?   Young people will turn the tables on the NRA.

Only 10% of the March for our lives rally was teens.   Compare that to the March for Life rally in DC where the vast majority are teens.   I can tell you from experience because both my boys attended the rally when in 8th grade.  Considering most pro life candidates also support the 2nd amendment you might want to dampen down your enthusiasm for this revolution you are expecting.

Fact is the majority at the rally were the same left wing nutbags that voted for Hillary and Obama and any dem that comes down the line these days.

https://onenewsnow.com/culture/2018/03/29/not-by-for-students-teens-just-10-of-dc-anti-gun-rally

Flying in the face of the mainstream media’s portrayal of the March for Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C., Saturday, analysis reveals that a mere 10 percent of the 200,000 protesters at the anti-gun demonstration were teens.

University of Maryland sociology professor Dana R. Fisher crunched the numbers from the anti-Second Amendment event and published the results of her research Wednesday.

“Contrary to what’s been reported in many media accounts, the D.C. March for Our Lives crowd was not primarily made up of teenagers,” Fisher wrote in a piece she penned for the Washington Post. “Only about 10 percent of the participants were under 18, [h]owever, the young faces of the advocates have created an assumption that ‘youth’ and ‘students’ are the core of the movement.”

More of a leftist gala than a gun control protest

She addressed the manipulative narrative presented by the consummately pro-gun control media, which conspicuously ignored the fact that the event was more about entertainment than protecting students.

“My research tells a different story about who participated in the March for Our Lives – and it is more complicated and less well-packaged for prime time,” Fisher divulged. “The March for Our Lives had the allure of a free concert – in fact, the event’s website maintained a list of performers, but never listed the speakers, but it is one thing to turn out to watch Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ariana Grande perform, and quite another to vote in the midterm election in November.”

The university scholar’s research team randomly selected 256 people as a sample at the gun control event in preparation for her upcoming book that addresses the rise of post-2016 election protests staged across the country.

“Her research will become a book titled, American Resistance, and will be published after the midterm elections,” Fox News reported. “Fisher also expressed skepticism that all those who showed up to the march were there primarily because of their views on guns.”

The research shows that guns were far from the minds of many attending the widely promoted D.C. event.

“About one in four participants were at their first political rally, however … they were not even motivated by gun control,” Breitbart News pointed out. “Instead, new protesters reported being motivated by the issues of peace (56 percent) and Trump (42 percent), who has been a galvanizing force for many protests.”

This is because some of America’s most famous and wealthy entertainers sponsored the festivities that originally focused on students who survived the Florida high school shooting that killed 17.

“In the days before and after more than 2 million Americans participated in the March for Our Lives [in various U.S. cities], the gun-violence conversation has focused on the Marjory Stoneman Douglas survivors and their ‘student movement,’” Fisher noted. “The school shooting in Parkland, Fla., and the passion of the teenage survivors have become a catalyst for the current movement, [but] with the help of some well-resourced benefactors – including Oprah Winfrey and George Clooney – the survivors organized an extraordinary rally in D.C. and sister marches around the country in a mere six weeks.”

Move over, teens!

In fact, the typical protester at the “student anti-gun rally” was about three times older than your typical high schooler.

“The average age of the adults in the crowd was just under 49 years old, which is older than participants at the other marches I’ve surveyed but similar to the age of the average participant at the Million Moms March in 2000, which was also about gun control,” Fisher pointed out. “Participants were also more likely than those at recent marches to be first-time protesters. About 27 percent of participants at the March for Our Lives had never protested before, [as] this group was less politically engaged in general – only about a third of them had contacted an elected official in the past year, while about three-quarters of the more seasoned protesters had.”

Guns? … what guns?

Even though Saturday’s event used the imagery of distraught students grieving over the availability of guns as the main cause of the 19-year-old ex-student’s recent campus shooting spree, just over one in 10 at the event who were attending a protest for the first time were even concerned about guns in schools.

“[O]nly 12 percent of the people who were new to protesting reported that they were motivated to join the march because of the gun-control issue, compared with 60 percent of the participants with experience protesting,” Fisher informed from her research.

Because opposition to the United States Constitution’s right to bear arms was not on the minds of a significant percentage of those attending the anti-gun “student rally,” it attracted less ultra-liberals than your typical leftist protest.

“March for Our Lives protesters were also more likely to identify as ideologically moderate – about 16 percent did so – higher than at any other protest event since the inauguration,” Fisher found. “But unsurprisingly, it was still a very liberal crowd: 79 percent identified as ‘left-leaning’ and 89 percent reported voting for Hillary Clinton.”

Championing feminism and campus politics …

It was also discovered that an overwhelming majority of protesters at the anti-gun rights rally were females with degrees from America’s predominantly left-leaning colleges and universities.

“Like other resistance protests – and like previous gun-control marches – the March for Our Lives was mostly women,” Fisher added. “Whereas the 2017 Women’s March was 85 percent women, the March for Our Lives was 70 percent women. Further, participants were highly educated; 72 percent had a BA or higher.”

It would be 'almost impossible' to repeal Second Amendment, say experts - as Trump wades into debate

President Donald Trump has been quick to show his disdain over a suggestion from a former Supreme Court justice that the Second Amendment of the US Constitution – the right to keep and bear arms – should be repealed.

Retired Justice John Paul Stevens has become the latest prominent figure to call for the repeal of the amendment, citing the sweeping movement started by student survivors of the Parkland, Florida school shooting on Valentine's Day in which 17 people were killed. Justice Stevens argues that the time is now to push on beyond the gun controls being sought and get rid of the whole amendment.

In response, Mr Trump said that the right to bear arms would "never" be repealed, using the method of a capital letter-laden tweet and even some students from Parkland's Marjory Douglas Stoneman Douglas have said they are after an end to gun violence, not an end to gun ownership.

Beyond Mr Trump's political bluster, the reality is that it would also be "almost impossible" to get rid of the amendment, according to constitutional law experts.

Gregory Magarian, who clerked for Justice Stevens and is now a law professor at Washington University in St Louis, said the 97-year-old’s proposal makes a compelling historical and legal case for amending the Constitution to repeal the Second Amendment, but any proposed amendment would face tough challenges.

“I think he does believe that we should do this,” Mr Magarian said of Justice Stevens’ call to repeal the Second Amendment. “But I think we’re inclined to think a little less boldly.”

In an opinion piece in the New York Times, Justice Stevens said the amendment had been warped by gun lobbying groups such as the National Rifle Association (NRA) to extend beyond its original intent. He pointed out that the amendment was adopted out of “concern that a national standing army might pose a threat to the security of the separate states”.

“Today that concern is a relic of the 18th century,” wrote Justice Stevens, a Republican, even though he is widely considered to have been on the liberal side of the high court at the time of his retirement in 2010.

He added that a constitutional amendment “to get rid of” the Second Amendment “would do more to weaken the NRA’s ability to stymie legislative debate and block constructive gun control legislation than any other available option”.

Donald Trump in turn defended the Second Amendment, saying it “WILL NEVER BE REPEALED!”

“As much as Democrats would like to see this happen, and despite the words yesterday of former Supreme Court Justice Stevens, NO WAY” he wrote on Twitter. “We need more Republicans in 2018 and must ALWAYS hold the Supreme Court!”

Of Justice Stevens’ op-ed, Mr Magarian said there is “value in kind of disturbing the narrative that the Second Amendment is a sacred cow”, adding that it could help activists focus their attention on what they want to accomplish when it comes to gun control.

But stoking a movement to repeal the Second Amendment may not be the best area to place efforts, he suggested.

Gerald Treece of the South Texas College of Law in Houston told The Independent that a more practical strategy for creating change would be for Congress to pass gun control laws, such as raising the age limit to buy guns. And if there are legal challenges to those laws, the Supreme Court may take the opportunity to reevaluate what the amendment means, he said. Justice Stevens was one of four dissenters in 2008, when the Supreme Court ruled in the case of District of Columbia v Heller that there is an individual right to bear arms.

Making any change to the US Constitution can be achieved in two ways.

In the first method, which has been used to ratify all 27 amendments, two-thirds of both the Senate and House of Representatives must approve of the proposal and send it to the states for a vote. Then, three-fourths of the states must affirm the proposed amendment. The other method for passing an amendment requires two-thirds of state legislatures to call a constitutional convention. Amendments proposed at the convention must be approved by three-fourths of the states.

The most recent push to ratify an amendment was in the 1970s. The Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), which would have prohibited discrimination on the basis of sex, was sent to the states in 1972 after having been passed by both the House and Senate. But the ERA never received the 38 state ratifications it needed.

If an amendment regarding sex equality could not be ratified – when there was “probably sufficient agreement on the substance of the amendment to get it done”, Mr Magarian said – it’s even more unlikely that one related to the divisive issue of guns could.

Steven's statement is simply a Trump like negotiating tactic getting the pro gun crowd to say "well we better agree to something or they will go after the 2nd." Some on here have said basically the exact same thing.      Steven's claimed it would be "easy" to repeal the 2nd.   Name 38 states that would vote to repeal?  Heck I'd argue it would be tough getting 5.    The 2nd is going nowhere, its interpretation is what and will always be the issue.

The 2nd Amendment will never be repealed, but you couldn't tell that to all the fools who bought overpriced guns and ammo they didn't need when Obama became president

Now obviously the youths have stirred up many conservative snowflakes and rightfully so as the youth movement if they vote and stay mobilized will have the edge on an aging gun lobby.....but the key is will the youth get out and make there voice heard by actually voting? Only time will tell.

They really got very little to run on in November.   If gun control is your main issue you've got some serious problems.

TEXAS 4-YEAR-OLD SHOOTS 7-MONTH-OLD BABY IN APPARENT ACCIDENT

BY EWAN PALMER ON 3/23/18 AT 7:06 AM

sign

A 7-month-old baby is in the hospital after being accidentally shot by a 4-year-old at a house in Temple, Texas.

The condition of the infant is unknown following the shooting at a house in the 300 block of South 25th Street at around 2:31 p.m. local time. KWKT-TV reported that the baby was conscious and breathing when it was taken to McLane Children's Hospital.

There were conflicting reports as to whether the 7-month-old was a boy or a girl. The Temple Police Department is expected to give further information on the incident later today.

Police said they received a 911 call from a woman at the house who is believed to be the mother of one or both of the children. Shawana Neely, a spokeswoman for the Temple Police Department, said that the woman was the only adult inside the property at the time.

Details are still scant at this stage, including what type of weapon was used or how the 4-year-old got hold of it. Police have so far only said the shooting appeared to be an accident that took police inside the home.

KWTX-TV reported that there was a sign outside the home in Temple that warned people of weapons inside. The sign reads: “The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes. The response time of a .357 is 14 hundred feet per second.”

Donating to an organization that helps protect one of my Constitutional Rights seems funny to some here. No wonder those same individuals are constantly wrong about everything they spew here. And these are no doubt parents of some of these teens
