Trolls will be trolls ... I'll take my October and November the way it is.  December is always bonus riding, so again - no real loss there.  Next week should be great in the U.P.

https://bringmethenews.com/minnesota-weather/2024-was-likely-the-hottest-year-on-record-in-minnesota

2024 was likely the hottest year on record in Minnesota

Another ominous impact of climate change.

2024 will go down as the warmest year on record for the Twin Cities and likely on a statewide basis based on preliminary data.

The final numbers will be crunched in January but it appears the averaged annual temperature for 2024 will be about 50.9 degrees F in the Twin Cities. That beats out 2012 and 1931 which were both 50.8 degrees.

The 2024 numbers are through November

The heat this year was buoyed by a strong El Niño – resulting in the warmest winter ever recorded last season – and climate change.

The average annual temperature reached a level not seen before at almost 51 degrees, more than 4.4 degrees above even the modern normal (1991-2020 average). That’s more than two standard deviations above the normal.

The three degrees of global warming over the past century made an average temperature of 50.9F ten times more likely.

Of course globally it will also go down as a hot year, likely the No. 1 warmest. This is also the year where we surpass the 1.5 deg C that was a goal to be avoided by the Paris Climate agreement. The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) predicts that 2024 will be 1.55 deg C above normal. Think of the climate calamities around the globe just this year with what seems like a small warming.

Back in Minnesota, the year started with our warmest winter on record. March, April and May then continued the above average temperatures but also record levels of precipitation, which caused record flooding in June.

The summer remained wet but finally, after several consecutive hot years, this summer saw nearly average temperatures.

In September the rains just stopped, as though someone turned off the garden hose. We went quickly into what's deemed a "flash drought." September ended up being the hottest on record, by far. The entire meteorological fall (September, October, November) ranked as the No. 1 warmest also.

While December offered hope of maybe some winter normalcy with an early cold snap and a little snow, of course the end of the month brought more of the theme of 2024: anomalous warmth and unreliable snow cover.

What 2025 brings is a question. January does indeed look to be colder than normal, for a rare change. Can we pull 2025 back closer to the modern average at least or will it be another above normal year?

Man guess we all gotta move to Alaska . Gee cant wait.  :lmao:

Look at that, a lake effect winter storm. Weather is amazing. Yay, Arctic Cat is saved! Yamaha is coming back into the industry. They’ll quickly ramp up manufacturing new sleds again for the week Krom has snow before it warms up and melts again. :lol2::lol:

Duluth-sunrise-11-8-24-WDIO.png
2024 was the warmest year on record in Duluth (WDIO, November 2024).

Preliminary data shows that 2024 was the warmest year on record in Duluth, with an annual monthly mean average temperature of 44.6 degrees.

This is according to data going back to 1875. Temperature records at National Weather Service-Duluth go back to 1874, but data is missing from January to mid-May 1874.

Duluth’s mean annual monthly average temperature is 39.1 degrees, so this year was 5.5 degrees warmer than the mean. The previous warmest annual monthly mean average temperature was 44.4 degrees, set in 1878 and tied in 1931.

As for precipitation, Duluth was 3.17 inches below normal with 28.01 inches in 2024.

Mnstang, I want a cashiers check for my $1000. Your personal checks aren’t worth the paper they are printed on.
