Rupert Murdoch bought 340,000 acres last year and there wasn't a peep about a monopoly.

He must be a Republican party guy

There is a lot of money and control tied up in owning farm land.  It's a great way to take the farmer out of farming too.   Capital outlay requirements are becoming prohibitive for anyone thinking about starting on their own.

We are seeing a lot of outside investors buying land in our area.  They are going in with the intention of "quick" return on the dollars.  (That term is new in reference to farm land.)  Those owner groups have also started to dictate the farm soil management methods.  What crops, tillage practice, etc.  I would expect an owner like Gates to start pushing carbon sequestration practices.  I'm not going for or against those methods, but would caution people to remember production efficiency.  We are not adding crop acres in this country.

Food starts at the dirt.  The cycle of outside owners has potential to become dangerous.

Maybe like Ted Turner he will turn the land back into a natural state before the whiteman killed Indians to take.  Just natural progression of Indians and buffalo range, to farmer, to a wealth philanthropist.

Or the subsidies and tax credits . Hard to say

Tax codes, grants and subsidies do really favor farmers/ranchers

Why does he need all of that farmland?

He needs it as an investment.  Farmland is one of the few things that will increase in price over time and as long as it is farmed the taxes are very little.  The only thing he is farming is money!

Why does it matter what he does with the land? It's his money. This is America. If he has the cash he can buy up all the land he wants and use it as he sees fit. It's no one's business but his.

Cuz he is a cunt

Micromanaging/meddling landowners are the worst.

As long as he keeps his shit to him self and dose not attempt to use his stake as a opertunity to push how he thinks crops should be grown in to local laws to be used on his neighbors he will never see in his life .

And funny for you to bring it up as you are the op
