Question for Navy guys.

Recommended Posts

I know that when the Navy set out to convert the YF17 Cobra to life aboard a carrier that so much of the plane was modified that the designation was changed to F/A 18 Hornet. If the salt air doesn't get them 20 years of arrester hook landings is sure to finish the job.

I sold it when trailer prices skyrocketed. I’m not sure if you follow rv pricing, but it’s up 50% or more. Massive shortages.

I don't, I travel every day m-f the last thing I want to do is travel on my day off..lol..hard to believe their are shortages, all the rv dealers here are packed to the hilt.

Supply is spotty. A lot of the stuff on the lots is shit. The higher end mfg are backed up a year or more.

Yeah, I don't know about quality or costs,  it's nothing that interests me, I just live near 5-6 rv dealers and drive by them regularly, they seem to have no shortage of campers

Are aircraft stationed on aircraft carriers subject to corrosion from ocean water? Any special prep that they require. Just curious?

Yes, they keep them clean and they have many different fazes of maintenance and preventive maintenance done on them, preflight, daily, weekly, monthly and so on. At certain fazes the do a very in depth corrosion inspection of the air frame, panels and compartments on the air crafts.

Are you serious? Of course they are. A saltwater environment is notoriously corosive. What kind of dipshit question is this?

Are tanks in the desert equipped to handle the dust?

(And before anyone says anything, they do... now. )

All branches of the military are pretty lackadaisical on the whole maintenance thing.

“If I have to clean this fucking thing anymore, I’m gonna have nothing but metal dust left!!!!”

Lol.  I was on a bike team for a while.  Kawi 250s.  We all avoided mud when we could….the amount of time it took to clean it before turn in just want worth the fun of pouncing around where that bike was made to go.  Hell, we stayed on tarmac and hardpack if we could!

I should have joined the Navy where they just let all their craft rust in the open.
