$4 gas would come from west Texas and north Dakota and the tar sands in Canada most likely. Right now most of those wells aren't flowing because of the low per barrel price of oil. It would put a lot of workers back to work in those fields. I'm not advocating higher prices because that is hard on the economy, just correcting a falsehood.

So gas prices are now on par with what they were 11 months ago prior to the pandemic, according to AAA.  Do some research compare the prices from 2015 through Jan. 2020.
