smartest thing he'd ever do is leave cali over tax purposes alone nevermind the county fucking with him.

You would think he would have been smart enough to know that in the first place.

Keep in mind how Tesla got to California.  The plant they build Tesla's in is an old car mfg plant between GM and Toyota that was closed for many of the reasons Elon talks about.  Truth is Elon could probably get a deal on a larger shuttered plant in many states in the union and get favorable regulatory and tax climates to boot.

I'm guessing there is a reason the Giga factory was built a matter of miles from Cali in Nevada.

Plus the current plant is right in the heart of silicon valley / Palo Alto / San Fran  tech area which when Tesla started out was ideal.  Now that they are more established and looking to up production as a real car company Elon would be wise to move away from the red tape hell hole that is the bay area.

Is quite strange . Did cali blow him with tax incentives?

Cali would not have bothered to give Elon tax cuts when he started Tesla because nobody thought the company would amount to much.

He would most likely have a unionized work force if he took over a shuttered auto plant that would be available for him to get up and running quickly in the US

elon doesn’t really like workers and ultimately sees them currently as an expendable necessary evil.

A guy who works with us had a job at space x and he says it was one of the best places he has ever worked. He said the cafeteria alone was to die for.

I know a woman with a different story. 60-70 hour weeks no exceptions. You are at space-x to work. She was there 1.5 years she had no life, no stories to tell of her life in California other than being at work and sitting in traffic. She moved back to MN.

What did she do there?

You can find these polarizing descriptions of working at all the big tech companies. FB, Google, Amazon, etc.

The conclusion I've come to is that it largely depends on which division you're in and your manager, not any different than other companies.
