Well he does have a point your education probably cost Jammies a quarter mill but you are doing something with it which is all you can control.

It’s funny because a lot of people don’t know anyone’s specific situation yet they are quick to throw judgmental statements out there with absolutely no proof or context.

I for one have contributed to my education from the financial side to what I consider a significant investment.  Now guys like daive won’t ever see it that way, but I worked hard for scholarships and took out loans, and I am grateful to have a father like jammin that was willing to help me get to the point that I am at. I plan to do the same for my children one day. You always hope your children come out ahead in life more so then you did. I’m the same way.

I had over $60,000 in student loan debt when I graduated. Most of my college friends had 0 debt coming out of school. I wanted to contribute as much as I possibly could to my education, outside of putting the work in. I’ve invested into myself, and it’s common knowledge for people to assume that I took a handout because of jammin, without knowing the facts. That being said there’s no denying that he played a significant role in my education and where I am at.

Not judging just never heard you state otherwise. :bc:

my daughter will be going to university in 2 years and I’ll be footing the bill. I never had that luxury but it’s something I want to do.

Did you get an education fund started for your kids when they were young? We got one started for my son when he was 3. It is sure coming in handy now! :bc:

Fuck yeah! Both my kids got funds started as soon as they were born.

If they don't go to college they can party like rock stars for a few years

Doesn't change the facts.

Do any of you even know what anecdotes are and how they're irrelevant to statistics?

Why is it uncomfortable truths feel like personal attacks to boomer white guys?

You know nothing about the truth. Your utopia is nothing more than a dream. It will never happen in your lifetime. You should be preparing your children for a life of capitalism.  That is all you or they will know in their lifetime. No one is going to murder the rich and take their property. That fantasy will never materialize.

Work hard and follow the rules. You will go places in life.

When I look around I see a lot of opportunity for anyone. It doesn’t line up with your uncomfortable truths. Maybe you should get out of your bubble once in a while.

Isn’t much opportunity in Gaylord for young folks. Probably most of the kids go somewhere else to find it. I can see why he feels the way he does.

All very true. He should venture outside of central Michigan for a little dose of reality.

I'm not talking about my personal experience, but hard economic statistics. Why is that so hard to understand?

People here are giving you real world examples that directly contradict every “statistic” you have provided, yet you still chose to ignore that fact. Personal experience or, statistics from an article written by someone you don’t know, talking about people you also don’t know and personally have never met.

Your ignorance is in full display and that high level of intelligence you so proudly advertise on a boomer based, white snowmobile forum is laughably ironic.

You realize that anecdotes of the privileged are virtually meaningless to statistics and averages?

Considering how much education costs these days, I'm surprised you weren't taught basic math skills.

Your socialist utopia will never come to pass in your lifetime. Time to buckle down and make something of yourself.

Maybe not in yours.

Why is it that critiquing the system is interpreted by reactionaries as a personal failure?

Are people not allowed to criticize a system that in some ways benefits them? When did that become a rule?

Bootlickers:

If the person criticizing capitalism benefits from capitalism, they're a hypocrite and can't criticize capitalism.

Also bootlickers:

If the person criticizing capitalism doesn't benefit from it, their failure to benefit is their fault and they can't criticize capitalism.

The takeaway here is that no one is allowed to criticize capitalism.

Over 4 decades of stagnant wages, perennially rising food, rent, and education costs, skyrocketing personal, state, and federal debt, massive growth in low wage, dead end jobs, massive concentration of wealth, record disparity between rich and poor, and privileged white people remain convinced that everything is just fine.
