One of the programmers I used to work with is blind and has a service dog. I couldn't believe some of what he experienced. Him and his wife going out to dinner was rarely unchallenged by either the owners of the restaurants or other people in the restaurant. We went to lunch together fairly often and his yellow lab Huey would just lay under the table at his feet and you would never know he was there. About 15 years ago leaving the Oshawa Centre near a youngish couple (late teens/early 20s) when this fellow enters thru the doors w/ a black lab that had the 'harness' & his little red vest on. This old codger starts yelling @ the fellow, "You can't bring a dog in here, blah blah blah..." Well before I had a chance to lose it on the old f*ck, the young couple go off on him (good on them). I'm pretty sure seeing eye/service dogs have been around since I was a kid. I guess the idgit hadn't got the memo.
