You know who I work for. We don’t quote single digit profits margin jobs. There are still way to many contractors giving away work.

We don't use pex and cpvc in our area. The price of steel has gone up substantially since January 2017, the price of copper has remained steady until the recent decline, both commodities in demand yet the price of one has risen far above what market conditions dictate................we know what has caused the difference or at least I do as I purchase millions of dollars of copper and steel products annually. The difference was steel pricing was artificially driven down by illegal dumping and cheap imports prior to this recent price correction Sorry bout your luck Edited October 16, 2018 by f7ben

I'm all for made in America and that shows in a lot of stuff that I have purchased throughout my personal and business life, @Snake calls this being a plastic patriot.......... In any event it's just my opinion that we could have strengthened US manufacturing without going into a trade war that is a tax increase and isn't so inflationary

So if you quote a job and there is 250k in materials. You put the 250k out to bid to your venders, they won’t honor the 250k quote for so many days? Say like 90 or 120 days? Most big jobs have a turn in date and a award date. The quote isn’t sitting out there for 9 months.

I view it as imperative that we level the playing field and create an environment where we can have a viable middle class. That cannot happen without manufacturing. If we do not produce the majority of the goods we purchase then we are doomed to continued wealth concentration and the irradiation of a middle class workforce and consumer.

Like almost all low/medium end bikes these were made in China. These were 2019 models. The dealer told me that the prices of all his bicycles shipped after Jan 1 will go up 20% because of the tariffs. He said that Giant sent them a letter warning them of the price jump. I bought chepo bikes but if I had waited I would have spent about $250 more for the same thing. Maybe this was just a sales ploy but I dont really think so. You get all set up with spandex and helmets too?
