Been there, done that.  On a Subaru where the oil drain plug was tucked behind a plastic access panel.

The good news is the tranny fluid was overfilled by the mechanic last time so it was actually perfect once I drained a little bit out.

A 600 is a 500SS? I'm confused how can a 500 be a 600? Is that using the new math?

Ah sweet..they are great on fuel and oil.

Bullet proof motor...a buddy had one and it finally blew up with just over 22000miles. :lol:

They just called it a 500ss...its a 600...its the old carbed 600.

True that.....I believe Ski Doo had a glut of 600 engines at the time. Carbed 600s, 600SDI and the Etec was about to enter the market. So some genius thought calling the the 600 carbed a 500ss was a great marketing move. :lol::bc: I've run all engines at one time or another. All were stout, I think I like the 600SDI the best.

It's not a 500cc, it's 600 (or 597 to be exact...I think) marketed as a 500SS

The 500ss (carb'd 600's) were down a nit on power compared to the other 600cc sleds out there.  I think Doo officially rated them at 103HP but several were dyno's at closer to 110.  

Still quite a bit less HP than the class leaders of the time the Poo and Cat 600's that had in the mid 120HP out of the box.
