The Deficit Hawks Are Dead

September 15, 2018 at 6:48 am EDT By Taegan Goddard

Washington Post: “Their demise technically came Tuesday when the Congressional Budget Office calculated the federal deficit at $895 billion for the first 11 months of fiscal 2018 — a stunning gap that was met with a collective shrug on Capitol Hill.”

“But the real death of the deficit hawks came late last year and early this year, as Republicans such as Speaker Paul Ryan who had railed against deficits in the first years of the Obama administration pushed through a massive tax cut despite CBO projections of a surge in federal borrowing.”

Blaming deficit on tax cuts.  That really requires a special someone to constantly do that.  Dude, there is a spending problem in Washington.  Stop defending it.

Holy shit are you guys brainwashed.....

THIS IS HOW YOUR THINKING.....

your wife spends 300.00 a month on shoes.

you go out with 4 of your friends and write them each a million dollar check.

you get home, look at your bank statement, yell at your wife for spending money and tell her she needs to cut her shoe budget.

REALLY?

Yes and you don't cut revenue to solve that though.  Cut spending first and oay down the deficit. Our interest cost is staggering.

The problem is how do you put it into context for the average American? How do they realize the scope when you are talking billions and trillions. “It’ll all buff out” mentality is strong in our culture. In reality, the tax cuts could have been more strategic with massive cuts in spending. Instead the R’s just used their own special brand of welfare.

why is it welfare for me to keep my own money? sending in 35k checks on apr 15 to the IRS is welfare to a fucked system IMHO  . more tax cuts along with massive spending cuts .I am for 25% across the board then start making real cuts . like another 20% to military another 50% to foreign aid another 30% on hud    call it 10 yr freeze on all government employ   raises . dont like it get a new job . 50% pay cut to all federal elected officials and they all fly coach . on and on

will never happen and the first one to cry would be the maincunt with even a 2% cut across the board and he dam well knows it

Blaming the deficit on added spending and then cutting revenues on top if it. Try reading slower.

You see it now, Republicans don't care about spending or fiscal responsibility so we shouldn't be hearing any bitching from them about it anymore.

Exactly. A tax cut should be a reward for a balanced budget.

I bet if Bush put a tax in place to pay for Iraq at the same time he announced the war things would have been different.

why in the fuck should a tax cut be called a reward for anything let alone a reword to the people because a politician got something done .IT is our money to begin with not theirs.

I bet if saddam let the inspectors in as per his terms of surrender things would also be diff but this is not a arm chair QB time machine.

it is always the cunts who never really had to lay shit on the line for there money that think other people should pay more tax . and usually at the exact same time they are working ways to shelter there own money that mommy set them up with . sound like any one you know ?
