Lewiston......or as the locals refer to as  "the Dirty Lew", or where the majority Somalian population lives.

All those Somalis must have driven that middle age white guy over the edge.

Is this really news or just more of the same thing in America? Almost 600 per year says its just another day.

Not really much to discuss that hasn't been beat to death. Nothing is going to change, only get worse. You guys have to learn to live with this new way life. It's becoming normal and some will always defend it in some fashion.

The system failed and there's lots of victims and many to blame. Let's find this guy and deal with him appropriately and then play the blame game.

The appropriate way to deal with him is put him down, shove him in a crematorium and be done with it. No media coverage,  no legacy, nothing. Just dead, gone, done.

We just need more people with guns on their kitchen counters and that will fix the problem!

I have no idea what the answer is for these kind of shootings. You can blame it on our gun laws, but it almost always is due to a mental health issue. It appears as though the system failed this time by not removing his guns when he had an earlier issue. Even if they had taken his guns, could he have achieved similar results from the driver's seat of his Subaru by mowing down people on a busy sidewalk in Lewiston?

The answer isn’t all that difficult.  Look around the world at countries with much lower rates of gun violence and hardly a  mass shooting.  Emulate those countries that don’t have the same problems.  What makes their laws effective?  Why are mass shootings almost non existent?

But so long as America embraces their gun culture the fact is American society cares more about guns than school shootings, mass shootings, and gun violence.

Then we'll need tougher Subaru laws!

Remember this POS? We need tougher fertilizer laws!

Is it really necessary for you to call people cunts for sharing their opinion on here? Is it not a discussion forum where we are entitled to share our thoughts and opinions? Something called free speech?

If you want to discuss it that's great, but this calling people "cunts" because they have a different view than you is kinda childish Jim :bc:

Thing is mental health issues are not confined to the USA so that isn't really a good argument. Cars are everywhere too in the world so that isn't really a point. But put a large population of mentally ill people with easier access to guns than ANY where else in the world and this is what happens. I get all the strawman arguments using fertilizer or any of the other "one off" situation where other means were used but to turn a blind eye to the most common way of killing fellow innocent citizens, guns, isn't going to stop this from continuing. They are by far the main weapon of choice again and again.

I have yet to see a member offer a solution to this as clearly guns aren't the issue to most here.

What's the difference? Same laws controlling people?

How about Toronto, Vancouver, Paris, London, Oslo, Stockholm, Berlin, Rome, Madrid, etc…???

Not as good as it could be in Chicago and Detroit because of American gun laws.  So you’re sort of answering your own question

Guns are the issue.  End of story.  What you hear is justification and excuses because most on here prefer unfettered gun access over saving lives.

Maine averages 16-29 homicides every year since 2012. The blm riots destroyed that state, Portland is trash. Typical blue state. The degenerate liberals will blame the guns as an excuse, but guns are not the problem.

The point is they have the strictest gun laws in the country and it hasn't helped. There's over 430 million guns in civilian hands in this country right now and the amount used in a violent crime is next to nothing. We have a crime issue not a gun issue. We need stricter punishment for the laws we already have. Anyone caught committing a violent crime with a gun life sentence, murder someone with a gun = death. Too many get sent right back out and do it again. The American people are soft though so this will never happen
