Platinum Contributing Member steve from amherst Posted April 1, 2023 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted April 1, 2023 The Biden administration is preparing to implement a sweeping nationwide ban on commonly used light bulbs as part of its energy efficiency and climate agenda. The regulations, which prohibit retailers from selling incandescent light bulbs, were finalized by the Department of Energy (DOE) in April 2022 and are slated to go into effect on Aug. 1, 2023. The DOE will begin full enforcement of the ban on that date, but it has already urged retailers to begin transitioning away from the light bulb type and, in recent months, begun issuing warning notices to companies. 1jkw
Except for heat lamps it's pretty hard to find old-fashioned light bulbs here, not saying they should be banned just an observation.

Big Crappie
Other than a few applications like oven light why would you want to use a 60w incandescent over a 9w led?

On town, city sewer yes. Private , fuck no. I have one and it sucks. Take a dump and you have to flush it twice or 3 times. The push for town sewer in many ares isnt helping either as around here the majority of wastewater ends up im rivers that eventually end up in the ocean instead of replacing the groundwater that was pumped out. Although it is treated in many cases those systems are overtaxed and during storm events too much untreated water ends up where it shouldn't Cleaveland dumps 8 million gallons of raw sewerage into lake Erie evey year. The city of Portsmouth has done major damage to oyster beds in great bay . Boston harbour used to be a shit filled cesspool , now with the outfall pipe it is much cleaner. Unfortunatly the pipe dumps 100's of thousands of gallons of waste in capecop bay and the gulf of Maine everyday. Fucking up shellfish beds there. But builders love sewers. Townjs pay for them and they allow for building on undersize lots as septic systems are no longer needed. What about lawn sprinklers?? Toilets 1.5 gal per flush, faucets, 1.5 gpm, tub & shower 1.5 gpm..... Lawn sprinklers residential or commercial I've never heard of any water saving or limits on them. JMO they should have left the toilets alone at 3 gal per flush and designed a toilet that had 2 handles, #1 handle for pee 1.5 gpf and #2 handle for Poop - 3 gpf.............. spin_dry
LED lighting has saved the US 5-7% of all electrical needs for buildings. That's significant.

We had all the florescent 8 footers at work replaced with led for free thru some utility company program, i like the light much better and we were replacing 2 or 3 ballasts a month before.
