The 850 patriot is the real deal , I’d take it over the etec. Not quite as smooth at idle but easily as smooth everywhere else and it feels stronger mid to top

Yeah I like it too, we're really splitting hairs on motors.  I could be talking out of my ass, cuz I'm not sure, but Doos seem to have better burn down protection from bad gas.  Polaris they expect you to know what kind of gas you're putting in, its automatic on a Doo.

The 800etecs still had crank issues. Especially mountain sleds.

The early ones did sure.  Seem to be pretty well sorted out now.  My 14 Freeride was the first etec I owned and it was flawless for 2 seasons and almost 5000 miles.

I don't remember. I had a pos 91.

Don't feel bad, I sold an 87 Indy 600-89 Indy 500SKS to a 91 Mach 1.  Not sure what I was thinking.  It was fast but rode like a brick and broke constantly.  Polaris was top of the game during that time imo.  Cat also handled like shit in comparison.

I'll do what most on this site wont. While I never heard of that sled until today, and Polaris got away from it, for this argument, I stand corrected.

Yeah I missed that.  Ski Doo definitely gets that honor even if it didn't make extra power.  It was a huge advantage in the hills.

It is , by definition …..not turbocharged

617 cc  Then later that year I think they had a late release 670 and called it a Mach1 X.  I put Decker pipes, K+Ns, clutching, etc., looked and ran like a scalded cat.

I don't have the spec sheet in front of me, does it not have a turbocharger?

A turbocharger that forces zero additional air into the motor is nothing more than a muffler.

What skidoo did is called turbo normalized and only a complete faggot ass company would do such a thing.

Cat had a 91 or 92 Wilcat Efi and I believe was already awarded the patent.  Think Poo had to pay them royalties.

Saw these pics the other day and had to right click.  Not mine, but had one of these too back in the day.  Pretty cool sled for its time.

I forget what the rear suspension was called, mine had 1 shock, and they later added a second one.  But mine barely moved, rode like a brick.

You're acting like Neal.  They did it for the mountain segment and it was the first production turbocharged 2 stroke.  I'd like to toss a brick through Ski Doos front window for some other reasons, but not that.
