Utah’s Great Salt Lake drying up.

Recommended Posts

I didn't read the story that you linked but read about the Great Salt Lake last week. I guess there is arsenic left behind when the lake bed dries out. It gets kicked up by the wind and is causing some people health issues.

It also threatens the local ecosystem and in turn the disruption of bird migration. Organisms in the lake are dying because of elevated levels of salt.

Yes, the article also mentioned the birds. The elevated salt levels are killing the brine shrimp that the birds feed on.

We should be alarmed.

We will do nothing meaningful about it.

Live your life like there is nothing you can do about it, and you will die some day.

Realism can be a bitter pill to swallow.

This entire thread is about BASHING THE RED HAT!!!! THOSE EVIL REPUBLICANS!

Not a single thing today that’s NOT political. Never experienced anything like it since the bush days in 2000. It hasn’t stopped. Trump really triggered the 20-45 crowd.. What a disgusting group of individuals

Nothing more nothing less.

Bahahaha…one mention about politics in the article and it’s a positive one about a Republican!🤣

Your anger/stupidity combo is so awesome!👍🏼🤣

The Utah state legislature also passed a $40 million plan earlier this year to create a water trust to maintain and improve waterflow to the lake and U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney, R-UT, introduced the Great Salt Lake Recovery Act, which would "study historic drought conditions and protect the long-term health."

Climate has some to do with lake drying up but it’s mostly due to large population growth in the Salt Lake City area.

always the climate change!!

it’s the desert and there is just not enough water produced in that area to sustain the growth!!also large farming in region!!

farm in desert?

come on do a bit more looking into real reasons!!!!

It's an absolute joke. Many were, and still are, gut hooked into believing the likes of Al Gore, Bill Nye, Obama, and a few others. Some simple research, while past history docs/stats are still available, would confirm it is nothing but a scam.

:news:

Utah's Great Salt Lake has lost half its water, thanks to thirsty humans

New study suggests consumption—not climate change—is to blame for falling water levels.

Put a tax on it. That should help.

They'd have to be real careful with that! If too much tax is paid, there is no doubt it would cause flooding. :news:
