According to him, the fire is at an administration building nowhere near the reactors. The reactors are Gen III with containment vessels. It sounds like these reactors still use water for cooling, but everything is protected much better than Chernobyl (which I think was first Gen nuclear) or Fukushima (which was Gen II nuclear). It would take weeks for an actual meltdown if the cooling systems shut down, meaning that there would be time to start everything back up. It is possible to rupture a containment vessel with a large enough cannon or bomb. However, probably the biggest danger is to workers who may be injured in any fighting that takes place when/if the Russians move in to capture the facility. The Ukrainians are massively exaggerating the situation. I don't think we can trust anything claimed by either side. I still think Putin's days are numbered if he keeps this up.
