Recommended Posts

9 year old shot by spray bullets from a drive by shooting while jumping on a trampoline during the middle of the day.

Murders are up in Minneapolis 40%+ this year.  Will Sharpton and Crump be landing at MSP soon to come denounce the senseless violence?

Minneapolis police have confirmed a 9-year-old girl who was shot nearly two weeks ago has died.

Trinity Ottoson-Smith was shot on May 15 while playing on a trampoline with her friends on Ilion Avenue. Police say the suspect was driving down the alley when they fired at a residence, striking the girl. No one else was hurt in the shooting.

According to John Elder, a police spokesperson, Ottoson-Smith died at North Memorial Medical Center just after 4 p.m. Thursday.

"For the last 12 days, that child has fought for her life," he said. "And today, that fight ended."

Ottoson-Smith was one of three children to be shot within a matter of weeks in north Minneapolis.

Between April 30 and May 17, 10-year-old Ladavionne Garrett Jr.,  Ottoson-Smith and 6-year-old Aniya Allen were shot.

Aniya Allen died from her injuries last week.

Elder said tips have been "pouring in" on all three cases.

"We have gotten a great number of tips," he said. "I don't know if that is because of the enhanced reward or the sheer shock and horror of having three children ages 6, 9 and 10 all shot by gunfire.

Sunday, a $30,000 reward was announced for information leading to arrests in connection to the three shootings.

10,000 more useless traffic cops thugs would have stopped this!!!

Actually there is a significant correlation between police spending and homicide rate.   I get it you don't like thug cops....nobody does but the data doesn't lie.  Sure there are other factors that come into play however the data is significant.

If communities did more to police themselves so many cops wouldn't be needed.   Only 30% of homicides are solved in Chicago....why do you think that is?  Because of this stupid street mentality of not being a rat which only keeps killers in their neighborhoods.

This statement put out by a Minneapolis City Council member is laughable.....

Minneapolis City Council Member Steve Fletcher, who represents the downtown area, called the recent increase in gun violence "unacceptable" and said that as long as firearms are readily available — whether through theft or legal means — no amount of police presence or community patrols will be able to put a stop to the violence.

He pointed to firearm thefts from vehicles as a contributing factor.

"Residents wondering what they can do to help can start by not leaving guns in their vehicles ever, no matter how they are secured," Fletcher said in a statement.

That's the next step.  When they ruin every city's police department and crime runs rampant they will go after guns.  Rather than admit their policies have failed and supporting a strong police force, they will go after civilians' rights to defend themselves against the criminals.

You forgot the failed public school system, broken families, and the lack of community support to catch the criminals.

So we've had a good year of "Defund the Police" attitudes, and a reduction in Mpls cops by about a third - what has that done to the statistics regarding Violent Crime?  Shootings?  Murders?

Defund the police amounted to a 1.5% reduction in the mpd budget. The rest of your post is a result of cops being cry ass pussies and not doing their jobs

Um, yeah.  Of course, they are nothing but pussies.... regardless of budget, they are down ~200 officers from where they were a year ago.  But no correlation here, nothing to see.

Blame the cops for bad behavior, that's obviously working out super well!

It’s working out just as well as excusing their bad behavior

Excusing?  Chauvin was convicted in record time - what more do you want?!  Those bad cops were taken off the streets..... Let's just vilify them all, they all suck, they do nothing for the communities they serve nor the people shooting each other.  Oh, and forget the innocent by-standers or children caught in the cross fire.  They should know better right?  Stay out of those drug infested crime ridden communities....

Oh wait, that's just the local bar scene downtown.  Come on people, be smarter, do leave your gun in your car for a THUG to take and shoot at other gang members!  You might accidentally get killed!  It's your fault you dumb law abiding citizens!  Yup, working out so well.....

Without question its the number one driver of crime even murder however if we legalize drugs or somehow get a "winning" formula on drugs criminals won't just pick up and get jobs.   Its not like these people will say "well looks like dope is cheaper thru the store now so I'll just get a regular job."

The real process involves changing the culture inside communities with high crime.   That involves commitment to family, education and so much more.   In a perfect world that is still a generation or more away.

No matter what it all starts at home and if we can't find a formula to increase 2 parent households the culture will never change.

Education and incarceration follow theses charts.

The government subsidies of single mothers in the 60s and 70s is surly a big part of our issues today. I always hate these charts that just show race and not a more comprehensive measure of the problem. Many black moved out of the cities decades ago and I would guess that there stats are not much different than everybody else.

2 significant jumps in children in single parent households or born out of wedlock.   LBJ's great society and after Roe v. Wade.   Both caused fathers of all races to think they weren't needed or gave fathers an excuse to not provide for the kids.  Obviously these are not the only factors but without question the data is significant.

It’s going to take some real time to undo the damage done by criminalizing and incarcerating addicts and recreational users. If we start now though it’s a battle that can be won in a few generations

There have been 10000 chauvins that went unconvicted and if it weren’t for cell phone vids none would ever be convicted ....pigs cover for themselves regardless of guilt. That’s a fact

PITTSBURGH  Pa.—

Eight years after 1-year-old Marcus White Jr. was shot and killed at a family cookout, a second man has been charged in his death.

An arrest warrant was issued Tuesday for Desaun Watson, 29, of Pittsburgh, on charges including criminal homicide.

All because someone sold them fake drugs they shot into a picnic to get revenge on the person who sold them the fake drugs. A whole lot of people at this picnic and "no one seen anything" or who did the shooting.
