Then why would they have planned to spend $1.6 BILLION to move the plant to Mexico. They have to save a lot more than 3% of the labor to ever get that back.

Can't be real estate cost, land is practically free in Detroit these days. Fact is, my guess is that Ford already owns plenty of land that they can use.

Yah its not just about labour its about regulation taxes cost of lots of other shit :guzzle:

Yep.

If memory serves me correctly, Ford was the last hold out on a bail out from Obama because they wouldn't bow to the conditions and regulations attached to it.  So Obama pushed all the regs through anyway to be applied to all manus.  Ford got fucked.  Actually, they all did.  They all agreed to thier own set of "terms" attached to their bail money and Obama fucked them anyway.   And that's why they are leaving. or..were leaving.

"Obama....business and economic mastermind!"

Mulligan....mulligan....mulligan....mulligan.....mulliigan...................mulligan...

For more profit.  They sure as fuck weren't going to lower the prices of the vehicles, like the "get rid of the union's" retards think would happen.

from the link....

"The automaker would have made the same decision even without Trump’s involvement, Fields told Bloomberg Television today. U.S. buyers are simply not as interested in the small cars that are being built in Mexico, while electric vehicles and hybrids have the potential for growth, he said."

"Ford Chief Executive Mark Fields said the decision to cancel the new Mexico factory was the result of sagging demand for small cars in North America and not because Trump was elected president. He told Fox Business that the automaker would have made the same decision even if Trump had not been elected.'

but it is nice to see the rwws cancel yet another 2008-2016 talking point - that these corporations are forced to do these things to remain profitable and competitive :lmao:

Kind of sounds like something a huge company like FMC would of figured out long before it went into the planning stage, but OK.

Did they get cheaper by moving production in the first place?  LOL

This always amazes me when I hear how a company needs to do this to stay competitive.

so the CEO is lying?

No...just saving face.  You think the CEO of Ford is gonna say "Trump scared us so we're staying"?  Why would they do that, how does that help their marketing efforts?

Pick one that is more beneficially marketable:

  • We are staying in the US to provide good paying jobs for the hard working American worker.

                                                                        OR

  • We are staying because the new regulations and costs coming up aren't worth the expenditures to leave.

"trump scared us" :lmao:

how did trump scare them exactly? small car sales are down because of cheap gas. that's the reason they're not building another new plant in mexico and instead are using existing plants. ford also needs brilliant people to create the newer electric cars, hence the reason to keep that development state side. they don't have that in mexico. but once they get things rolling smoothly, count on that high volume production moving south.

Same here... Ford Canada and Ford US didn't take bail out money because they didn't need it. They were selling product consumers wanted and were managed much better financially.

Contrary to what many think , the UAW and CAW Ford employees also played a huge roll in not going bankrupt also.
