Gold Member Stephen Hawking Posted August 15, 2020 Gold Member Share Posted August 15, 2020 You would think most food manufacturers would run finished bags thru a metal detector as a last step.

Most do! They usually have them on the multi vac machines and they'll stop once something is detected. Stuffers have them as well and even check for bone fragments as well as other materials

Pretty sure its required by the FDA to have all finished product go through a metal detector before being packaged. We had them on our production lines when I was in bakery business. It probably came from a conveyor line.

Fireball 440
In the 90's we found a stainless assembly line part in a carton of Yo-J. We sent the part in and received free Yo-J for life. Haven't touched the stuff in 20 years we got so sick of it
smokin george
I worked for a meat processor for almost 20yrs. Anytime there was a complaint the lab dept did an extensive investigation. The shut down that line and the maintenance guys tore the machine apart to see if anything was missing. They went thru the daily checklist to make sure the detectors were installed and working. The line operators ran objects thru as well during the day to make sure everything was good. The company took precautions seriously and one event some lady came in with a pkg of cooked sausages and said she bit into a sausage and there was a piece of nylon glove in it. The piece wasn't shriveled and the powder was still on the piece. They knew it was BS but she managed some freebies.
