Catalina
A moderate would be a great first step, and taking the longer view, he would be in a better position to go more conservative next time - and there will be a next time, maybe two more. I think he does by placing a moderate in power. Remember his win came from blue collar dems and not from the right wing whack jobs. Putting a moderate on the SC absolutely shows that he hears those people who are traditionally democrats but pulled the trigger for him. He doesn't need to cave and put a liberal on by any means, but a good, solid, and responsible moderate from the right would be a huge show of confidence for ALL Americans. Because let's face it. He could throw three hardliners on there and there is not a thing the left could do about it. Catalina
I'm sure he could go hard line. Doesn't this require 2/3rds approval? Not going to get that in either house if everyone follows party lines. Would be nice to get something done by putting up a candidate they can't say no to, and moving on. Again - there will be more chances, and they can say we gave you an easy one last time. Edited November 11, 2016 by Catalina

Catalina
Would be tough to get to 60 in the senate if the candidate is too far right, it seems to me. Unless he can negotiate way better than I think he can. Edited November 11, 2016 by Catalina

He needs to show that strong Evangelical Nut Bag front, and to be honest it worked pretty well for him based off the simple fact he got elected. I would be very happy and impressed to see a good moderate be thrown out. Could really do a lot for the fears in this country. The best thing about this election is that Jesus wasn't brought up at all, and we have Trumo to thank for that

Gold Member BOHICA Posted November 11, 2016 Gold Member Share Posted November 11, 2016 (edited) Cruz would be a good replacement for scalia. He is 45 years old and would help assure a conservative court for 35+ years which means my constitutional rights would be safe from liberal assault for the remainder of my life. Two of bill clinton appointments will prolly retire or die in this 4 year term so i hope trump can find 2 additional ted cruz's to fill those spots Edited November 11, 2016 by BOHICA
