Those numbers are based off the USD so they will float with the exchange.  We are over 2 trillion.

By the way Chretien was PM from 1993 to 2003. There was steady gradual growth with Chretien and as soon as he left the GDP took off. GDP growth under Chretien was nothing stellar compared to the years after him. Kind of skyrocketed after that with the only dip being the 2008 global hit... You are correct its was also Paul Martin, and left a huge gain for Harper who in turn did okay considering the surpluses and high dollar value, then not so good and fell last few years.

Yes, the first Syrian refugees he greeted who were privately sponsored by a Christian church, under Harper's watch.  How are Christians treated in Syria these days?
