Justin Trudeau is Doing a Great Job

While you guys circle jerk over Harper's return to the news I will post some real issues you want us to CAVE on

The long-rumoured proposal, discussed at NAFTA renegotiation talks on Friday, would make a car need to be composed of 50 per cent American content to avoid tariffs. At present, there is no American-content rule: NAFTA requires only that a car include 62.5 per cent content from North America as a whole.

The U.S. also proposed to raise that North American requirement to 85 per cent. This, too, is considered an unreasonable threshold by the industry given the importance of Asian electronics and other elements found overseas.

This prediction is coming true

Between now and the next round of negotiations in Mexico City in November, don’t be surprised to see President Trump take a chapter out of Nixon’s playbook by using the “madman theory” to categorically launch an offensive attack against Canada and Mexico in an all-or-nothing bid for a “win-lose-lose” NAFTA.

The Trump administration is demanding that Canada end its system of supply management, which fixes prices for dairy, eggs and poultry by protecting Canadian producers from foreign competition.

The U.S. proposal, presented late on Sunday at the renegotiations of the North American free-trade agreement unfolding at a Washington-area hotel, would see all tariffs associated with supply management phased out over a 10-year period, which would flood the Canadian market with American imports and effectively end the current system, two sources briefed on the U.S. demand said.

In the interim, the sources said, Washington wants the right to start exporting up to 400,000 tonnes of milk and 175,000 tonnes of poultry to Canada annually, accounting for roughly 17 per cent of the market.

These are real issues, nothing to do with women rights or natives -  stop driinking the kool-ade

Caving in is unwilling to accept a deal that must  include a tri-lateral agreement with Mexico.  Ie one of the main points that got Trump elected.  Good luck with that.

lame view

there is so much more going on,  Harper is hurting Canada's chances by spewing about shit he has no involvement in

Auto Parts sales will suffer, lay offs, and higher car prices

keep giving Canada away

You really are as dumb as a stump.... think just a bit. If Canada cannot get an inclusive trade agreement with Mexico and the US there is NOTHING.... NOTHING preventing Canada from negotiating a separate Canada / Mexico trade agreement. Wow you really aren't thinking today are you.... too much pot maybe.

Cuba

You don't really follow the bouncing ball well do you... the comment was made about your bromance partner Trudope admiring the Chinese government. The Cuba comment was to add Cuba to those he ADMIRES.

Give up Fail... too much pot has really screwed with your head. What we have been talking about is Trudopes stubborn stupidity to say it's an all or nothing negotiation and MUST include Mexico. If you can't get that then negotiate a trade agreement with the US that addresses all that you just rattled on about. YOU CAN DO THAT WITHOUT INCLUDING MEXICO AS PART OF THAT AGREEMENT.

I'm not cheering anything and never said any deal is a good deal. ALL I HAVE SAID AND WILL CONTINUE TO SAY IS THERE ISN'T A REQUIREMENT EXCEPT IN TRUDOPES DELUDED MIND THAT IT MUST INCLUED MEXICO OR THERE ISN'T ANY AGREEMENT AT ALL.

Mexico isn't Trudopes responsibility. I know he likes to push his agenda about gender and such on the rest of the world but damn it he needs to take care of Canada and let Mexico take care of itself. What part of that don't you understand. If necessary there can be a Canada / Mexico trade agreement exclusive of the US. Keep showing your stupidity. It's really shining through tonight.

Fail,

who fucken cares if we send auto parts to Mexico and bring back full cars to Canada.

How about we build the cars in Canada for Canada?

Or we negotiate a deal with USA to send parts and cars to USA in exchange for parts and cars from USA.

If vehicle prices increase and we get good jobs out of it who cares.

But that logical thinking would require the auto sector to be more economical and productive in Canada.   This could be good for Canada if the autoworkers pulled the pickle out of their asses and said we need 20% more productivity or whatever to get the jobs back!

bold is the problem, Donny says he wants Canada and Mexico to buy more parts from USA not the other way around.

He wants 50% bought in America currently there is no restriction - so we won't be able to sell parts to Mexico in this case

What magic deal can You make here?  Win win for Trump

:nuts:It's called a negotiation Fail. You give some you get some. The one thing guaranteed is that nobody will get everything they want. This has nothing to NOTHING to do with Trudopes insistence that a trade agreement with the US MUST INCLUDE MEXICO OR THERE'S NO DEAL AT ALL.  Last I heard Mexico isn't big on the parts manufacturing in the auto industry. Their main participation is in assembly. Also Ford owning parts in Canada made in Canada and having those parts that Ford owns assembled at a Ford plant in Mexico wouldn't be stopped based on what you just stated.

The US would and should have a problem with things like the money Trudope gives Bombardier Aerospace giving them an unfair advantage and creating an uneven playing field.

guess you heard wrong

Mexico is the seventh largest vehicle manufacturer in the world, producing more than three million cars annually.  It is also the fifth largest auto parts producer worldwide with USD 85 billion in revenues annually.  Recent investments by established automakers and new Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) have increased business opportunities throughout the country and have attracted Tier 1 and Tier 2 supplier bases.  Vehicle production levels are forecasted to reach five million units by 2020, given the new players and expanded manufacturing capabilities.

So Fail in my post where does it include buy from Mexico?

It doesnt.

Trudeau wants a trade deal to have this big huggy circle where we can all cry together and sing koombya together.  Inclusion and gender neutral are not in Trumps or USA plans so better get over it before Mexico slides in back door and leaves us sitting on outside looking in.

What a dumb comment

Right now the current deal has worked fairly well for all -  we are already holding hands and singing.

Donny wants to change that and take more of the pie.

Trump is dictating not negotiating big difference

Dont think for one minute Canada isn't important to the USA - clearly you have no clue about negotiation and how they work.  I have been apart of negotiation with the government for decades........  You have to play the game to win

We need to negotiate for Canada, not Mexico.  Fair enough?
