Do a modern OD trans like a 700r4 A Ford 9" will handle a lot more than 500hp

My resently purchased '78 short box Flareside Its at my buddy's bodyshop having the roof reskinned. Hope to get it mechanically sound over the winter so I can get plates. Before it left for my buddy's shop, I found water leaking from the head. She might need a new motor. Currently a 302 with a C6. Might change it out for a 351 and a trans with overdrive. The black and cream 2 tone they used to do looked real good.

He's got his 2002 35th Anniversary Edition Camaro he brings out a few times in the summer. Him and I went to Woodward cruise this year during the week and as he dropped me back off at work so I could get my truck he laid out a couple strips on the freshly sealed parking lot
Edmo
I had a 70 GTO that looked like this. Bought a new truck and was limited on garage space or I would still have it. Really fun car.

I’ve never gotten attached like that, and kick myself for selling some of my past toys. Couple bikes and sleds I never should have sold. Probably should have kept that Toyota Tundra I had too.
