My '78 F150. She's pretty much complete but I have a few things left I want to do to it. Needs new shocks, want to change out the mirrors, engine compartment needs detailing and the stereo needs some upgarding.

460 with a C6 and 3.50 gears.

Just bought a 572.  Now what type of transmission (kind of want to stay auto). And will a ford 9 inch hold up to 500 hp?

Do a modern OD trans like a 700r4

A Ford 9" will handle a lot more than 500hp

Right on!!!  Ya that is what my internet browsing lead to was a 700r4...  I wanted to build a flathead for this and put a 5 speed manual in but my FIL is pretty much giving me this 572.

i don’t know much about this shit so glad to have some knowledgeable input.

My resently purchased '78 short box Flareside  Its at my buddy's bodyshop having the roof reskinned. Hope to get it mechanically sound over the winter so I can get plates. Before it left for my buddy's shop, I found water leaking from the head. She might need a new motor.

Currently a 302 with a C6. Might change it out for a 351 and a trans with overdrive.

The black and cream 2 tone they used to do looked real good.

I wish I could or I had the extra money to send it off to a good builder to be finished. He's got his 2002 35th Anniversary Edition Camaro he brings out a few times in the summer. Him and I went to Woodward cruise this year during the week and as he dropped me back off at work so I could get my truck he laid out a couple strips on the freshly sealed parking lot

Different heads check....

I was told by an engine builder that a marine built engine in a car is great, not so good the other way around. Why do you guys think you would need different heads to install a marine built head in a car ?

I give you alotta credit, holding onto things.  I’ve never gotten attached like that, and kick myself for selling some of my past toys.  Couple bikes and sleds I never should have sold.  Probably should have kept that Toyota Tundra I had too.
