I always do my own work other than auto trans work, put upper and lower control arms with ball joints on the wife's Avalanche at 121,000, bottoms were shot, I put top ones in as long as I was that into it, pretty simple, took about 2 hours for all 4.

yeah I really dont like working on cars anymore. Thats why I buy new, then I dont have to worry about it for a couple years. I am going to drive this one past 200k and then probably get a new one.

I really do enjoy mechanical work, rebuilt my first engine when I was in 4th. grade, a 5-1/2 hp Evinrude, but since I got Lyme's I've slowed way down really can't stand for more than 10 minutes before my knees go bonkers, however I never give up and try to sit when working.

I dont mind working on the sled but if its engine problems i am not comfortable doing that. Mostly just maintenance stuff and accessories.

I hate working on trucks. Would rather work my job longer and use that money to pay someone to do the things I think suck.

You also reach a point when it just does not make any sense and don't understand what your own time is worth.  I call it steppin over a dollar to pick up a dime.

I can write off paying someone to do it. I cant write off my own time.

So 4 dollar a gallon gas, deficit out of control...but the economy is on fire I hear. Good thin working folks will have a little extra money in their pockets to pay for fuel.
