The 20 or so billion dollars or so that NYC would have got over the next 10 years from Amazon via taxes would have went a long way on fixing some of there shit in that city.  Bet many out there expect the fed government to step in and fix the cities infrastructure vs the residents of the city

Just the 27 billion in revenue and the state was set to receive from Amazon headquartering there.  9 to 1 return rate on the tax break incentives.

https://ny.curbed.com/2018/11/16/18098589/amazon-hq2-nyc-queens-long-island-city-explained

According to the state, Amazon will generate $27.5 billion in state and city revenue over 25 years, a 9:1 ratio of revenue to subsidies—an arrangement Cuomo called “the highest rate of return for an economic incentive program the state has ever offered.” This is predicated on the assumption that after the company begins hiring in 2019, Amazon will create 25,000 jobs over the next decade (with up to 40,000 when all is said and done), with an average salary of $150,000. The state estimates the project will facilitate 1,300 construction jobs and 107,000 in total direct and indirect jobs.

Wasn’t it like 3 billion in tax breaks?  Pretty good return on NY not collect 3 billion in tax dollars and get like 27 billion in return.

What state do you live in? Is it a giver or a taker of Fed dollars? NY is a giver.

Takes money to be financially responsible.....something you Repugs don’t understand......besides.....NY’s population declined faster in red upstate NY than blue metro NYC.

Absolutely aim high, but the OP's narrative is that "cities" should charge more for there infrastructure use...........the truth is blue states are givers to the federal gubment who den gives da blue money to da red states. So the real fix is that blue states should say fuck you to the red states so they can keep there money at home to fix infrastructure.

And yes shit like bolts, rivets, construction debris can and does come down from elevated rail, but when you look at the overall system of elevated rail the events where "shit does happen" is minimal as compared to all the stuff that just works day in and day out.

Here's a link to states return on dollars sent to the federales for all to peruse including @BOHICA

Along with gentrified neighborhoods and rising rents.

So $3billion in tax breaks for $1.1b/ yr in tax revenue?

🤔🤔

Pays for itself in less than three years, after that it’s gravy. Something about the math here have you puzzled? :dunno:
