Another thread turned into a Trump vs Biden shit show. I’ll tell you what I know about China…. In the early 90’s I worked for a big company that did flight boxes for military and commercial. We did a box for a company called IADC in Taiwan. They wanted to put together an aircraft similar to an F16 because the US wouldn’t sell them F16’s. Long story short they were starting to try and prepare for China. My next job was with a small company that did pick and place machines. This equipment is used to assemble circuit boards for things like cell phones. It was a small company that got killed by the big players that outsourced their manufacturing of these “machines” to China. Company I worked for did some real innovative stuff but couldn’t compete. “We in the US are good at innovating, then we ship it off and have it manufactured in China.” The big Companies came into China and put together a factory, a dorm to sleep in, and a cafe to eat in. Cost very little to hire employees and run a factory in China. Most equipment didn’t have to go far as it was sold to big businesses that had fab houses in China. Next job was a place under a big company. We did high end copper cable that competed with fiber used in big banks and places like Google. We were building up equipment to make this product and found out it was going to China to produce this high end cable. Was told it was just for the product needed in the Chinese market. A couple years later and it’s all being made out there. Place I’m at now builds helicopters. These helicopters are so good that China is copying them. We are developing things that will go into production soon enough. Give it time and China will probably copy some of what’s being built. My thoughts about China? We made them what they are. We enabled them. not Trump or Biden… everyone. Big business showing them what we do and how to do it to the consumer buying their cheap knockoffs. We continue to give them our technology and our money. China is not our friend, they don’t give a fuck about us. Our businesses don’t give a fuck about us. You think Biden and Trump are any different?

I'm actually reading, haven't had much to say up to this past weekend as far as the weather goes. I was in Irasburg/Coventry area this past weekend and saw -17 deg f when I went out and started my car. Took the sled out on Friday for a short ride and got to the edge of the lake (where the cross is, across from Eastside) and was hesitant to go across as I was alone at the time. Trails were in good shape even with the lack of snowfall, water bars are now frozen and filled in. Need a couple days of real snow and the rest of the season will be good. Non weather drama: Had some issues with the Nest thermostat at the rental, it's setup as a 2 wire system with no common wire and the thermostat wasn't charging as the furnace was constantly running. Ended up getting a cheap thermostat for now. A 3rd wire is available so this weekend I'll go see what the connection at the furnace looks like. Just need to make the owner aware and explain it so he's comfortable with what I'm doing. Personal drama: Gained some weight and my riding clothes are tight. 5 more weekends of riding for my group.
